They aren't difficult to reject, all of them, if you ain't a Christian Nationalist...

One can certainly be a Christian & agree with the virtues espoused by Christianity...and easily reject those statements as absurdly anti-American...and indeed a big majority of Americans do reject them as such.

BUT, 10% of Americans affirm them wholesale, while another 19% aren't willing to reject them. That the affirming is so decidedly white and heavy church goers and less educated is not surprising, nor their media choices, nor their support for Trump, etc.

Predominantly WHITE Christian Nationalists. Big portion is 'evangelical' but I suspect another big chunk is right-wing Catholic. I'd need to dig deeper on that...

I'd have figured the numbers to be a little higher, but this 29% lines up with all sorts of other analyses that range up to 40%.

And yup, with a way outsized political impact given our two-party construct.

Are you saying that you think the hard core conservative Catholics are unlikely to be the second largest group within Christian Nationalist cohort of 29%, behind white evangelicals? I've seen other studies that would suggest that's a sizable chunk of what makes up that group.

I wasn't specifically referring to the implications of such, but now that you challenge this, yeah, I think we see this playing out at SCOTUS too...

When my unit deployed to Panama for training in 1980 the US Army lined all of us up in a room and gave us all the shots necessary. I still have my shot record around somewhere. They made us take around a half dozen shots. That was not a request that was an order. There was not a single person in my unit that balked at getting vaccinated.
