mostly transition goals. i wouldn’t mind seeing him get some offensive runs. he has a great shot. 9 goals on 13 shots and 11 on goal. those are good numbers. he is leading the team in points and goals.Laxguy703 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 2:07 pm I see Jackson Shields has 9 goals in his last 2 games as a D-Mid… I haven’t watched the games so I’m curious to hear from a York fan how he is scoring all these goals? Is he playing a little bit of offensive mid or are all of these transition goals?
I’m just having a hard time picturing a D-Mid scoring 9 goals.

Re: York 2024
what’s the feeling for this weekends game? RIT has been dominating teams with three wins of double digits. York on the other hand has played 2 close games and 3/4 close game until finally pulling away from F&M later in the 4th.
looking at the box score from the RIT/Nazarath game, it was a three goal game entering the 4th. and this was with RIT dominating faceoffs.
i feel like York should have the advantage at faceoff. which should keep the game close.

Hoping for a good game. RIT brought in a grad-transfer faceoff from Merrimack where he was about 50% career. He has been their guy, and has gone over 70% for them thus far, so I don’t t think it will be a huge advantage for York, but hopefully they matchup in Facciponti’s favor.Jumbo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 4:14 pm what’s the feeling for this weekends game? tough loss for York. after a slow start, they had a nice comeback. out scoring RIT 6-3 in the second half. turned into a physical game with some big hits.
all in all, not a bad showing for #11 to lose by 1 to #3. i think york can play with them if they play again.
defense is playing solid this year. offense needs to get things together (leading scorer is a defender). contended ground balls, faceoffs and goalie play are showing signs of brilliance occasionally, followed by signs of frustration.

Re: York 2024
York is a legit top 10 team. RIT is tremendous this year bring back essentially the same team as last year no one has left. The fact that RIT did not win it by 5 or more and they way York came back against W&L and was really 1 play away from taking down a very talented RIT team says a lot about this group. This was a very impressive game . I expect them to compete hard and be in it late in the game w Salisbury

Major props to the Spartans. They gave my Tigers all they could handle. Goalie play for York was outstanding and their close D played their nuts off. Nothing but respect for York and the schedule they have put together. Now go out next weekend and take down Salisbury. Unlike some “elitist” programs that start late, never venture out of their comfort zone, York can be proud of developing a consistent winner and their day will come.

STFU Troll. You know exactly what I mean so let’s not pretend you want a discussion. The purpose of my text was to congratulate York on the York site. Go back to your hovel and produce some comments on the team and the conference you support.SouthieLax wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 11:26 pmFunny comment, please expand on what you mean, would love to read.Tigerlax70 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 10:23 pm Unlike some “elitist” programs that start late, never venture out of their comfort zone, York can be proud of developing a consistent winner and their day will come.

I was also curious/not sure who you were referring to. What a needlessly toxic response.

Good point. Funny thing, all this is happening, and without InsiderRoll, who seems to have disappeared, LOL.admin wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 8:22 pmTiger (and all), no personal attacks.Tigerlax70 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 12:34 am STFU Troll. Wow. I just read his last few exchanges. Wonder if he will/has created a new account to resume his incognito extracurriculars, or if he has chosen to focus more on his job of winning games this year.

Didn't catch the stream, but read through the recap and box score. A confidence builder for this Spartans roster.

York really showcased how small the gap is this year between the top 5-7 teams and the next 4-5 teams.
York plays such a tough brand of lacrosse, I've said it before on here and I'll say it again.......Childs for me is the difference year and year out. To lose the scoring and experience from the 2023 team and play a legit team to 1 goal is impressive.
The culture he has built is built to last.

Watching the feed of the game, I am not sure that York could have asked for more, they had the ball in the stick of their best offensive player and he gets a good look from the middle of the field. But, I would say they had chances in the 3rd to bury a couple to make it closer and they just did not finish. The solid second half by the specialists and I thought that #7 put them on his back a little and is emerging as their top-scoring middie.

Yep. For an “L” there’s some positive to take away, in addition to the areas to work on that were identified.Asgot wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 11:59 am Watching the feed of the game, I am not sure that York could have asked for more, they had the ball in the stick of their best offensive player and he gets a good look from the middle of the field. Re: York 2024
Any chance at an upset will depend of the health of the Spartans, if they can get a couple of the players healthy and ready you may see a closer game. I also feel like they nee dto start faster than they have in the past

Re: York 2024
Based on what I’ve seen from York in the W&L game and RIT I’d say why not. I haven’t seen Salisbury play this year and not sure what they are. Pretty stout D holding Gettysburg and Lynchburg to 8 goals each. Can’t imagine 8 goals beating the Gulls so can York get to 12-13, I’d think that’s their only shot

Re: York 2024
can york upset Salisbury. yes. salisbury is the best in the league, but they are beatable.
keys for york.
obviously, limit mistakes.
let the offense play offense. meaning, they have to be able to clear the ball 9 out out 10 times. if York tries to have the defense produce the goals, they will lose.
goalie play, f/o, and offense need to start playing from the first qtr. they all have been getting slow starts. but all have performed very good late in the game.
need more than 28 to take chances. 7 has been stepping up the past two games. need another attack and another middie to attack the defense.
my senerio for a york win.
more than 55% from faceoff
more than 60% save percentage.
and less than 15 turnovers.

Re: York 2024
The Gulls, and I've only watched parts of three games, are a HANDFUL. Defazio is borderline manic. The pressure defense, where they extend and disrupt the offenses ball movement, is prevalent. They aren't on an island, but they haven't been forced deep into the rotation much in the plays I watched. Offensively, they are winning their match-ups a lot. Tough team to beat every year, this year looks tougher than most.
