Towson @ Saint Joseph's On Friday @ 4:00 PM

Post by gymman1031 »

Towson definitely looked awesome against Navy on Saturday. However, while no disrespect to Navy, the Tigers could prove even more with a win over a Saint Joseph's squad who is trying to avoid going 0-3, and whose two losses are to Duke and BU.

Predictions?

Anyone know why the game hasn't started/when it will?

It's on, 4-0 Towson, 7 min to go in the 1st.

Both of their schedules and IL said 4pm start. But saw it turned on right after I posted.

SJU finally with some life. And then... Towson scores again. 7-1, three mins left in the 1st.

St joes should put a scarecrow in the goal.

9 goals. ZERO saves.

Towson looks very good. But SJU looked about as unprepared to play a game as any team I have ever seen. Defense was abysmal and the offense looked slow, awkward and unathletic. Might be a long year on Hawk Hill.

St Joes not winning face offs like yrs past. Their issue is they don't have anyone who can beat their man and score. They have all big body finishers so when they had Cole winning face offs they pushed the ball a lot but now they have to play a lot more 6 on 6 and lack a true QB and an athlete who can win his matchup and score. Richie Lacalandra could have been that guy but he hasn't played so I'm assuming he was declared ineligible so can't play until next yr. Towson has looked good this yr so far but still if you can't win if ur not winning face offs and ur goalie can't make saves ur just not gonna win many games. Richmond and High Pt look like the best two teams in the A-10 this yr.

SJ just to reluctant to go to the backup Goalie I think it would have been difficult because the faceoffs were not good either. Z Cole covered up a lot of pimples!

Good win for the Tigers. Mikey W. is becoming a star. Villagomez shooting well. Need to limit the penalties. Second half was rough to watch.

He always has been a star coming out of high school but his shooting percentage has been ugly his first two years. Hoping his shot will improve

Cole was a monster at fogo and did cover up for a lot of undisciplined play over the years. However, they didn’t lose yesterday because of faceoffs. Towson won 13 faceoffs to SJUs 11. They lost because their defense is terrible (averaging 16 GAA through 3 games). Was that the goalie’s fault? Partially, he had zero saves and gave up 11 goals in a little more than one half of play. Was it just outstanding shooting from Towson? Yes, they shot the ball really well. Was it brutally bad defense? Yes there were many uncontested shots. Tough to win when your starting goalie has a .268 save percentage for the season. But that is a direct result of an extremely undisciplined and porous defense. Wray will have his hands full this year.

This is his second season and last year, he was coming off a knee injury where he started the season late. Shooting needs work on his off hand and had an 0-7 game against the Mount, but otherwise, his ability to create and separate has been very impressive. Not super concerned with the shooting. It will come. He's second on the team with 7 assists. He just gives the team a different energy and explosion now that he's healthy.
