Jake Plunkett seems like a home run fit for this job. Homer native. Proven winner. Won a national championship as an assistant at Cortland in 2006.

Good call, I’ll second that.

I think ppl are going to be disappointed with the cortland hire if the other sunyac job salaries are any indication of the PayRange for the new coach.

Good call but not sure he would make the move.

Salary cut (among other things), it would be a step back for him

It’s a state job that you can look up. Open payroll shows Beville at $82k.

Seems about right, especially after 17 years. Probably got a 1k to 2k a year salary increase as well

That’s true for Beville but ever new coach that’s been hired hasn’t started over 48k.

Thought Cortland had some sort of alumni endowment/ fund that augmented the pay

Is this for real or opinion? Why would they hire a new HC?

Because the old coach stepped down: https://mumonarchs.com/news/2023/6/21/g ... coach.aspx

Official:

Methodist (NC) - Ryan McKay, Piedmont AHC
Mount Saint Joseph (OH) - Colin McSharar, Anderson (WLAX) HC
Pitt-Bradford (PA-2025) - Scott Gwyn, Concordia-Chicago HC

Safe to say there's probably only 1, maybe 2 "premier" jobs left on the list? Cortland and (maybe) Allegheny? And with SUNY pay, is Cortland really a premier job anymore (unless there's a supplemental salary endowment)?

My guess is another coach burnt out from unmet expectations and promises.

Plunkett is a natural fit in many ways but have to think Cortland may go with a rookie and save on compensation. If it was Plunkett I’d think there would be a pay cut
