Georgetown losing two close games to two good teams doesn't mean they're not a quality win. I give Hopkins a hell of a lot more credit for beating G'town than I give ND credit for beating Cleveland State. Same with Penn.

Luckily, ND gets a chance this weekend to notch their own ND win. Then they might begin to justify their lofty ranking.
I agree - that part of my post reads a little awkward because I was originally going to say something about not beating any NCAA tourney teams - which of course we don't know this early, and which is why I ended up not saying that. But, I was thinking about the fact that g'town does seem to have already used up most of their "extra lives" for this year.

you can call it recency bias - I attribute early losses to teams figuring things out. I accept no obligation to follow the transitive property, nor will I keep teams "sticky" - you lose ugly you could fall out. You finally get that convincing win - you can debut in my top-10 (like ND did this week). And re: ND, I probably have them low (certainly most folks would think so), but I am taking a wait and see approach - as I don't know what value (if any) the G'town win represents at this point. If they win this week - they would be odds-on favorites to move to my top spot.

Was out of office and phone wasn’t ideal clearly as somehow submitted BU 3x. Apologies to Delaware at 19 and Brown at 21 in my poll.

It's hard to claim recency bias in week 3 of a 14 week season.

Final poll? Sure. But week 3?

And do I have an issue with ranking Loyola below Maryland? Not at all. But ranking them 13(!) spots below a 2-loss Hopkins team they pummeled just a week ago? (I mean, the score was 13-8 but it wasn't really that close; Hopkins scored the last 3 goals to make it "respectable").

That's not recency bias. That's just silly.

EDIT: Also, finally getting that "convincing win": Are you referring to Hopkins' scorcher over...Utah?

Yes - crazy weekend,

also a great weekend, some tremendous games.

I don’t see the top four being different teams,
just Cornell swapping places with Maryland - then Loyola, Duke depending on how they do today, Rutgers - Yale likely moving up to 8 or 9. This is setting up to be a very contested road to the national title. Teams are leaving everything on the field (a real
cliche, but accurate in this case).

Princeton at 14 makes me belly laugh. They beat Monmouth and Manhattan. Silly.

I had Rutgers 4, Loyola 5, MD 6, Duke 7. Honestly don't really see the argument for a two loss MD team over a 1 loss Loyola team they lost to by 5 or a 1 loss Rutgers team that beat the team they lost to by 5. Duke's wins don't really impress me and the loss to Jacksonville isn't great either. Plus Jacksonville lost to Hopkins who Loyola dismantled. Loyola-Duke on Friday makes this a one week problem but I still don't agree with the order. But then the IL poll has always shown great deference to the name on the front of the jersey.

Along those lines I don't really see why Hopkins is sneaking into the top 10 nor do I really get Denver, Penn or Georgetown making the poll at all. I believe Penn and Georgetown probably end up in the hunt at the end but the games matter and they're not top 20 right now. I included UMBC along those lines. 4-0 with 4 dominant wins is enough for me even if the quality is questionable.
