Potomac State drops Lacrosse
Quietly , like a thief in the night and very much like the Baltimore Colts move, Potomac State College has dropped men's and women's lacrosse. With a new AD she decided it was time to pull the plug. Having JUCO lacrosse has been hard for PSC. With dwindling numbers in JUCO and the rise of NCAA /NAIA teams it leaves very little for the JUCOs to pick up. It's totally understandable from her viewpoint. It just kills me and other JUCO lax fans. I always saw it as a great developmental tool for players. And some great lax action. Just look at the history of the players who played in the ranks of the NJCAA. Players like Randy Staats, Warren Hill, Jeremy Thompson, Cody Jamieson, John Grant Sr., Rory Whipple and many more. My hope is that one day JUCO lacrosse will make a comeback, I think it is still needed.
Re: Potomac State drops Lacrosse
I agree there is a place for JUCO and should still be considered a viable option for HS graduates. Most of the time these are much more cost effective institutions and have guaranteed transfer agreements with 4 year universities. Northern Virginia CC has a really good transfer agreement with many VA colleges and at one point had a decent JUCO team. These are also a great opportunity if someone wants to be certified in a trade and have the option to get two more years of lacrosse...

While the list of JUCO contributions is impressive, it is far from complete! Start your research here......

Why aren't the HOF inductees from 2015-2018 listed? Strange...JucoFan wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 9:05 am While the list of JUCO contributions is impressive, it is far from complete! Start your research here... https://d2o2figo6ddd0g.cloudfront.net/k ... e_2022.pdf

May be stating the obvious but... Thornton went to Loyola and performed and... he was an even better soccer goalie. Played in the MLS for years.

You may note that Bruce Arena who coached USA Soccer and UVA among other achievements is also on the list!
And Thornton was incredible at both sports also a very big strong athlete!

I was well aware my list wasn't complete. My point wasn't to make a list. I still would like to find a way to elevate that level.

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

What happened to Carroll County?
