2023 Virginia Public GLax
Woodson League, Week One, Go!!!
Re: 2023 Virginia Public GLax
While it's exciting that it is lax, August "Fall Ball" means nothing. You may get more insight from watching the lax girls play field hockey cause at least that's in season.

The only two locals are the Woodson commit to JMU and a girl from Richmond committed to Syracuse. Both play for Capital

Kettle Run goalie committed to JMU
Re: 2023 Virginia Public GLax
Observed the Kettle Run goalie several times last season - excellent player and good for the Dukes.

JMU racking up some top NoVA public talent in '23 and '24 classes.

It will be fun watching JMU in the new AAC with Florida, Temple, Vandy. Those will be some fun games. Nice places to play for JMU - FL and Nashville. USF joins for the Spring 2025 season. Tampa, nice place to travel to. It looks like USF landed two top commits from NoVA publics as well. Nice to see another NoVA public player going to the ACC and VT.
Re: 2023 Virginia Public GLax
Anything on the home front? Quiet in here. Some really nice commits happening across the area. Woodson Elite league has been competitive though teams have been missing players. Good for them to get out and at least play together before winter league.
Re: 2023 Virginia Public GLax
Woodson Elite League has been competitive in general when teams could play. All the rainouts have killed its momentum it seems, between that and missing players for a myriad of reasons. Too bad they can't get the turf fields all day to help ensure games will happen. Hopefully they extend the season and make up all the missed games.

Wow. This thread has been quiet. No thoughts on Fall Brawl or Turkey Shootout? I hear Oakton has looked good. Are they the team to beat this year? What is everyone watching in St James indoor? Looks like most schools are in it for varying degrees. Hard to believe we are only 2 months away from the season.
Re: 2023 Virginia Public GLax
Oakton has looked good, and they may be one of the top teams with Yorktown, Woodson, Battlefield and some others. STJ indoor is always hard to judge as it matters who is there week to week. Valentines Shootout is coming next month too, and that's usually a pretty good pre-season look at a number of top teams right before things get real.Robolobo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 1:30 pm Wow. Re: 2023 Virginia Public GLax
Hard to really tell how well teams will play this Spring based on The St James League because of the revolving door of players playing each week and if these high schools are playing true club teams, but all four of the above lost yesterday. It looks like Robinson had a convincing win but they are playing in the weakest Gold bracket. Again, not sure you can read too much about these teams based on the indoor league.VALaxer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 5:21 pmOakton has looked good, and they may be one of the top teams with Yorktown, Woodson, Battlefield and some others. I am thinking Battlefield may be able to get over the hump and finally win a game against a northern region team this year...
