HS teammate played basketball at Northern Arizona. He said the
Pepperdine game was the best road trip because the beauty of the campus was only matched by the girls in the stands.

Hampden Sydney and Roanoke College each have a very nice campus along with great lacrosse fields.

The problem with most big universities is that many parts of those campuses will be pretty ugly. Name a big State U that doesn't have a corner of their campus where Soviet-style brut architecture doesn't exist? The lawn area at UVA is beautiful, but then you get to other parts of campus that are just reinforced concrete buildings. Same with UNC. I'm of course partial to Maryland, and I appreciate that they've mostly tried to stick to a similar architectural style like you see around McKeldin Mall. Even as they've built up the Smith College of Business, the newer buildings in the compound have tried to maintain that look.

So that leaves mostly smaller...and mostly private...universities. Mostly because they maintain a core aesthetic across the entire campus.

Richmond has a really nice campus. Colgate and Lafayette have been mentioned. Bucknell is an amazingly beautiful campus.

Maybe not beautiful exactly, but Michie Stadium is up there as among the best places to see a game.

Mercer is up there with Chapel Hill and Charlottesville. But, c'mon, a packed Homewood? We all know nothing beats it.

It's always raining at Colgate and Bucknell, though Bucknell is really nice. Boy o boy does that LIU Bethpage look fantastic.

Princeton has a beautiful campus. And I've been to more than my share of youth lacrosse tournaments at Lehigh. I've never seen their main campus, but the athletic campus is really beautiful - views of rolling green hills on every side.

I thought Roanoke had a beautiful campus and the stadium was just right for watching a game.

Cornell, with its hills, gorges, and lake was once voted the most beautiful campus in the U.S. Then the administration squeezed several spacey buildings into the main campus. Still, the campus retains some of its former glory.

For some reason whenever I see the Princeton stadium--fb, not Class of 52--I am reminded of Fritz Lang. It has that German Expressionist feel.

I also like Marist right on the river, Villanova and Georgetown are both beautiful. Denver is pretty sweet, Navy Stadium is classic, Homewood at Hopkins high on my list, and Panzer at Penn State is great.

Ones I don’t like partially due to tough losses, Rutgers, Hofstra, and UMass.

I might be only one here to say this but I love Gaelic Park at Manhattan in the Bronx. Gritty place with elevated trains and their own bar in the stadium.

Penn State has a great stadium but its tucked at the edge of campus- not the prettiest part of that campus. We visited Colgate years ago on the circuit- nothing not to like about that campus. Ditto several of the New England D3's- we had visits at Hamilton, Coast Guard , Bates and Bowdoin- all very pretty campuses. But it's been about 12 years for that- not sure others have eclipsed them.

Athletic campus at Lehigh is beautiful. Main campus is on north side of hill, always dreary.
