Just found the back up stick. Nice to have this chatter back on Monday ams after lacrosse weekends. As a Tiger, was thrilled to watch that win v UVA. We finally put a game together against a top team and finished. 1 win doesn't make the season, though, so have to keep laser focus as we move to what will be a hungry, desperate JHU squad.

In terms of the league in general--man what a start! I don't think there's arguing it's the best conference right now. A lot can change, but I would hope if the IL keeps it up that there would be possibility of 3 bids instead of 2. I know, I know--way too early.

PU, Yale and Penn had the "signature" wins, but watching Cornell highlights they could be freaking scary as well. That attack is lethal. Sleep on Teat and co at your own peril.

Excited for this season. The league could be a meat grinder with in conference play. Best of luck to all the squads.

And Hahrvard #19 (which, coincidentally, is where I had them in my forum poll...)

ETA: Also interesting is that the ACC is the #1 conference according to Massey, with IL # 2 and B1G #3.

Harvard scored first 4 goals of game, HC came back with 9 of next 10 to take a 9-5 lead. Harvard scored 2 in last 1:30 but ran out of time.

I'm watching Stonybrook pull away from Hofstra at the end of the 3rd Quarter... I can see how they gave Brown a run for their money and prevailed.

Maybe we're used to thinking of Holy Cross a certain way, but the team is 4-1... and perhaps the Ivies' hot start was too good to last. Cornell certainly has an interesting run of games coming: the OSU in Columbus, Ohio, followed by Penn State in North Carolina, Yale in Ithaca and Penn in Philly.

Oddly, I was coming here to see if people were talking about Harvard's annual 1-goal loss to Holy Cross, as this is the third year in a row they've pulled it off.

Harvard had one of the best face off coaches in the country for the past few years, but the new administration chose to go with a little bit of nepotism in that role. The former Harvard FO coach works closely with the outstanding Holy Cross FO man Dan O’Connell. #karma

Will you be doing Ivy predictions this season? They were great last year.

Ivy appears to have (4) NCAA-worthy teams. Almost inconceivable they get 4 bids as in-league losses will drive someone outside the Top 10. Shaping up to be a fascinating game of musical chairs.

4 IVY bids would be fun, but then again, John Hopkins losses are not counted the same as IVY wins. :)
If the NCAA tournament was slightly expanded, the scenario would be likely. However,
ESPN must tell the NCAA they want expansion.

Fun fact: Brown/Yale/Penn and Princeton have all had their individual record books rewritten in the last 4 years. Obviously pace of play and an increase in games played contributes to this, but what a golden age of offensive talent in the Ivy League. It’s been a pleasure to watch. The league is so good this year.

Something has to give. The ACC will likely be fighting their own "4 for 3" cage-match w/ UNC, ND, Cuse & UVA. Tough to get 4 teams in so RPI order is crucial.

ESPN almost certainly loses money on lacrosse and would prefer contraction ...

They may lose money- no doubt but often stores have loss-leaders to draw in more buyers, but there is no question that ESPN dictates the schedules to the NCAA. If the NCAA cared a lick about the athletes (or academics -get the semester started before practicing and playing 2 games a week) , this sport because its played in shorts would start later and finish later. However, the TV coverage over a Memorial Day Weekend garners more ad revenue than the 1st or second week of June.
College Baseball has the never-ending tournament because b-ball sells well across a greater viewership-especially in the South.
