Re: SAA 2024
BSC continues an improbable successful season beating Rhodes convincingly with a skeleton of a roster and on the eve of the school closing in a few weeks. Just crazy how they’ve put together a 10 win season with no face off player, losing an all conference attack man mid season, having a major cont...

Re: NCAA Proposal re Tournament Selection Criteria
I think some people are misunderstanding the proposal. I presume the "bad" games to be removed from the formula are lower ranked wins. That would serve to encourage stronger scheduling like the RPI does in basketball in that your w/L is actually de-emphasized. The balancing act here is act...

Re: SAA 2024
1. Centre (they simply have to lose an SAA game before they get moved from here) 2. Rhodes (common opponents set the Rhodes vs. Sewanee line at Rhodes -3) 3. Sewanee (can't lose to piedmont and call yourself the team to beat) 4. Berry (Curtis Gilbert's ceiling) 5. BSC (Could flip with a win against...

Re: D2 LAX & Engineering
How many of those programs can you actually major in engineering and play varsity lacrosse though? At most of the better programs, the schedules are pretty incompatible with engineering as I understand it. I do know that FL-Tech and Alabama-Huntsville (UAH) both tend to have a number of engineering ...

Re: NCAA reorg imminent
Direct compensation from the school to the player certainly would keep a compliance lawyer up at night, but an across-the-board incentive plan might fly. So the Football players get a percentage (say, 10%) of their television rights, and the squash players get the exact same (10%) of their televisi...

Re: NCAA reorg imminent
"Not sure of the ramifications this could have on Men's lacrosse" Would seem to be BAD, very bad. Title IX is the poison pill here, particularly for all but the largest schools in the SEC/BIG10. The schools will have to offset the direct compensation they can offer players dollar for dolla...

Re: Preseason Top 10
Sure was. But they made that choice before much of this transfer culture/two extra years of eligibility matured. I would imagine they considered that the vast majority of D3 families/players wouldn't want to pay for two extra years of university, unless they were pursuing a masters. 99.99999% ain't...

Re: Preseason Top 10
The "younger guys" lost 1-2 years of HS lacrosse and definitely did not have a normal HS experience ... and, as compensation, get to compete for playing time with 24-25 year-olds who can't wean themselves off the parental/college teat. But, "4 normal college years" ... makes it ...

Re: Conference Shuffle
Birmingham Southern (BSC) got funding from the state and private donors so will be ok in the medium term (4-5+ yrs) financially apparently.
Also Southwestern(TX) is joining the SAA for 2024 play to make it an 8 team league for next spring.

Re: NCAA reorg imminent
Rutgers was targeted when a different thinking was pervasive (local TV market rather then national brand). It's arguable that neither Rutgers nor Maryland would be invited to the Big X in 2023 as it's not clear they've brought value to the media rights deal Huh? Clemson is the biggest national bran...

Re: NCAA reorg imminent
"The B1G is all about media markets. Virginia, along with MD, helps seal the Baltimore/DC media market. UNC helps the B1G capture the North Carolina media market. Miami gives them a toehold in Florida." That's a fundamental misunderstanding of current CFB/BB media rights values. They don't...

Interesting that the 4 semi finalists are among the larger enrollment schools in D3 lacrosse RIT (17k), Salisbury (8700), Tufts (13,300), and CNU (4500)

Would spend the next 18 mos working agility/burst/speed more then anything at this point in his development with an eye towards the next level. The good news is that "you can't coach size" and he is a good athlete with a D1 size which will get him attention

Re: SAA 2020
cheers to Centre on their 2nd conference tournament win in the last 3 seasons. Just a remarkably close season in SAA play with pretty much every game among the top 4 teams 1-2 goal differences all season long. Centre goes 7-1 against the conference including (4) one goal wins and a (2) goal win, inc...

camskidamski,
you do realize the absurdity of having 12 W&L & 11 Lynchburg , 11 HSC players on your all conference teams? The talent is not that asymmetrically distributed in the ODAC

Centre hosting the SAA tournament for the 3rd straight year (2021-2023) next weekend, duplicating the 3 peat of Rhodes (2017-2019). Centre will host BSC in the first semi final, looking to avenge their only regular season conference loss the last 3 years earlier this season to BSC 16-14. The last t...
