I am familiar with both the urban dictionary answer and my general business world answer. It’s smart to assume I’m in degenerate mode but actually had finance term in mind.

To armpit a trade is to cross clients without showing it to the trader or floor. It’s customary to show any offer to sell or buy to the entire floor even if the firm isn’t using its own balance sheet to hold the risk at all and is just “matching” buyers and sellers (officially called “riskless principal”). Keeps both side of the spread on your Profit and Loss book but isn’t best execution for either side without knowing if others have better bids/offers in your group. It’s also selfish because you expect others to also show all bids/asks in to the whole group.
