Forecast for Monday is 80 degrees and sunny. If you're a gambler

coffee shop where the uppities like to hang out and see if they have
French press coffee (they don't show it on their menu), if they do I'll
get a cup and try it. I'll take it across the street to drink it though.

Thanks, DMac. I work in a 99% male industry. When I ask guys how they're doing and they say, "Another day in paradise." I always say, "Absolutely – I wouldn't wanna live in any other country in the world." Thanks to veterans like you – I can say that.

DMac, you do have a very good memory. Yes, I answered the call and served in Army. I couldn’t say anything better than what you posted. You spoke for me and I would suggest many others, who feel the same way. I usually attend an annual Veterans Day ceremony hosted by our county, where the governor, an admiral or a general will be the guest speaker. Before the speaker begins, they ask any WWII veterans in attendance to be recognized and there are sometimes 2 or 3 in attendance. They then recognize Korean War veterans to stand if possible and be recognized. On to the Vietnam Vets and so on. I often get to meet some of those men and women and I mostly just listen.

Reminds me of the welcome the Vietnam vets got
when they returned home. While I believe there are
many who are sincere when they say "thank you for
your service", I believe this poem expresses the true
sentiments of most who mouth those words. JMHO.

Amen. When I was back in USA after Vietnam deployment, there weren't a hell of a lot of "Thank you's" awaiting. You were more likely to be attacked and reviled by the civilians. And I don't like people telling me now "Thank you for your service." Not at all. It would have meant something in the 60's and early 70's; it means nothing to me now. And it's just talk. I imagine it comes mostly from people who would never dream of enlisting....

And for future veterans.....My grandson Logan is in his last month of Army boot camp down at Fort Moore in Georgia. The wife and I will travel there in mid-December to see him and his buddies graduate...He will then try to become a member of the Special Forces....
