Always suspected he was secretly a member of the right wing. Now we know fer sure.

He was apologizing when Castellanos went yard.

popular Twins tv announcer Bert Blyleven retires:

For 25 years I have had the privilege to be part of the Twins broadcast team. Tonight sad to say will be my last Twins broadcast. But I will continue to serve my role as a Special Assistant for future years.

"circle me Bert" is a well known refrain here in the Twinkies as he would draw a cricle on the tv monitor for any fan who asked to be circled on the screen

Just happened to be watching when the rookie Ian Anderson made his debut with the Braves v the Yanks a few days back. While he didn't break out a flute, he certainly hit all the right notes in pitching shutout ball for 6 1/3 innings (was a 7 inning game...one of those double header deals) and got his first W. I see in his next outing he beat the Red Sox. Went 6 innings and struck out 8, Braves win it 10-3 (didn't see any of the game). Caught him againg last night v the Nationals. Had an awfully rough second inning giving up back to back walks to start the inning. Not only gave up back to back walks but he completely lost the strike zone. I thought, uh oh, he's lost his groove/rhythm...big trouble for the rookie here. He got out of it though. Couple of long fly balls and a strike out (I think) and he got out of the inning unscathed (score wise). Ended up going 7 innings (pretty sure he's the only pitcher to go 7 this year) giving up nary a run yet again (reliever came damn close to blowing the W for him though), Braves win it 2-1. Been enjoying watching this kid play, 3-0 don't get any better than that.

Blue Jays > Yanks 11-5:

https://stories.mlb.com/live/630876.html

Game took almost 4 hours. There had been a pause as HP umpire got smashed by a foul tip and docs determined he was a bit concussed.

Jay featured a rookie catcher named Alejandro Kirk who went 4 for 4 with a HR. A chubby guy kinda on a short side with a generous waist line. Reminded me of legendary Human Bowling Ball Don Nottingham. Neither was expected to make it in the big leagues but they surprised everyone with their strong work ethic, popularity, and success.

Generally I don't like watching Ray's games due to it being inside the dome but the announcing crew of Jimmy Rollins & Rich Waltz are making it plenty more enjoyable. I've grown tired of ARoid, Jess, and Sut.

I'm beginning to think the Twins are cursed. 17 in a row? I'll tee this up for somebody...inconceivable!

Next game edit - 18!

Here's something for you Brooklyn. Audio clip about the 'called shot' plus the video clip. Funny seeing Ruth run around the bases all animated at the Scrubbies players and fans.

Nice clip, Nigel. Here's another clip of the Babino arriving at the park which I've put on here before.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxpW5E054rU
Note the lefty signing autographs right handed. No doubt a few rulers were broken over that left hand as the nuns at the Catholic school he went to had to drive the curse of the Bambino's left handedness out of him (probably the only thing he did right handed). Evil stuff, ya know.

Been watching quite a bit of baseball lately, baseball really is a very cool game. Can't remember what game it was, but there's a close play at first. Runner appeared to be safe (to me) in real time but the ump calls him out. Go to the replay and the call is reversed, runner beat the throw and it wasn't even really that close. Next batter, another close play at first, runner looks to be safe in real time but is called out. Go to the replay and the call is reversed again. BTB blown calls at 1st. Pretty darn big difference between having men on first and second with no outs than having two down with nobody on. C'mon, ump, gotta do better than that.
Am lovin' this Ian Anderson rookie. Batters aren't liking the tune he's been playin'. Pitches six innings of shut out ball in his debut, seven in his second outing, and five (gets the W) in first post season outing. Not a bad rookie season.

Anderson is just what the doctor ordered when Soroka went down early this season. I didn't realize he 's from Shen over by Albany. The Reds are a poor 'make contact' team but he flat out smoked them in game 2. They get the Marlins next and they can also pitch. Been a great couple of days here for the forgotten baseball fan.

GREAT find!

There has never been any doubt in my mind that the Babe made the call and was true to his word by belting that Ballantine Blast.

A bit mad at myself for not watching more of the Braves this season. Been a very long Atlanta fan since I was in middle school, this’ll certainly give me reason to tune in now.

I have not watched an inning of baseball since the last strike other than taking people to a couple of Yankee games. I sat a couple of rows behind Kate Upton. That was worth it.
