2024 New York State Tournaments

It's about that time! Brackets are being filled in here

Here's what we know in Sect 5 Rochester,
Class A McQuaid Knights 17-2
Class B Victor Blue Devils 16-3
Class C Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars 17-2
Class D Aquinas Little Irish 14-5
And in Sect 6 Buffalo,
Class A Orchard Park Quakers 14-4
Class B Niagara Wheatfield Falcons 11-6
Class C Lake Shore Eagles 16-2
Class D Akron Tigers 18-0
HFL will play Lakeshore today over in Bfl area
AQ takes on Akron right after that game.
Also looks like the LI Championships are today/tonight.
A - Sect 8 Farmingdale Dalers (15-5) v Sect 11 Half Hollow Hills East Thunderbirds (16-1)
B - Sect 11 East Islip Redmen (19-1) v Sect 8 South Side Cyclones (17-1)
C - Sect 8 Wantagh Warriors (16-3) v Sect 11 Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms (17-1)
D - Sect 11 Babylon Panthers (10-6) v Sect 8 Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks (11-7)

Syracuse/CNY sectional finals are tonight. B'ville is 2X defending Class A State Champs.
Class A: Liverpool vs. Baldwinsville at Fulton, 7 p.m.
Class B: West Genesee vs. Watertown at Fayetteville-Manlius, 5 p.m.
Class C: Jamesville-DeWitt vs. Homer at Fulton, 5 p.m.
Class D: Marcellus vs. Westhill at Fayetteville-Manlius, 7 p.m.

Well well Farmingdale upsets Hills 11-6 in the LIC which could make the A tournament more wide open.

West Genesee WIldcats 16-7 winner and will be S3 Class B rep. They will get S4 Vestal Bears 17-0 next.

Vestal had a pretty empty schedule. Shouldn't be close.

Both teams beat Liverpool (WG 2X), who just won Class A over B'ville (7-5). I would not be surprised to see Vestal give them a game.

Has Shenendehowa ever played in a state final? They're always there but I'm not sure if they've ever gotten past Long Island. My gut is no on that. This could be their year.

Shen has never been to a State Final. I believe they lost a Semi to the great Farmingdale team with Danowski, Panarelli, et. al. Dalers were upset by WG 11-10 in the Final for their only loss of that year.

to get tothe A final they will have to beat Mamaroneck (1) and likely Farmingdale (8). Both games are in the Albany area, however so travel won't be an issue.

They also lost to Northport in '02 in the semis when we suffered the same fate against West Genny.

Yeah, just going by results it doesn’t seem like there’s one dominant squad…maybe States will clarify that. I like what I’ve seen from South Side, but as you point out there’s a lot of competition in B

My usual is calling for an Upstate sweep!
So far, including the LP days, I'm 0-fer.

BBP handling Wantagh twice is arguably the most impressive thing I've seen this season. To be fair Southside's season would be 1a to me

That F'Dale team had eleven seniors committed to D-1 schools. Not sure if WG had any. Perhaps those famous WG haircuts made the difference?

The announcers wouldn't stop whining about the lack of a shot clock but I thought BBP's poise in the final 5 minutes playing keep away in the restraining box was quite impressive.
