I'm more in line with US mag poll. IL has Darien way too high after all they lost. Stone Ridge should also be ranked, US Mag has them and IL doesn't. McDonogh is absolutely loaded and i expect them to go undefeated. I'll try to post scores to some of the bigger games and update the polls as the season goes on, as well as keep tabs on some top recruits

I don’t know how there isn’t a single team west of the Mississippi on here. Colorado Academy has NINE D1 commits. Also a couple of California schools with 5 D1 commits. And all of them play for top ranked club teams (STEPS CA, Mad Dog West Elite, Team 180).

If the 20 are all to high or mid ranked D1 then fine. But if they’re d3, low ranked d1 then nah.

Just checked a certain school with which you are very familiar. Shows 14 D1 commits. Don’t have the interest to go through all of the schools, but I suppose it is possible a few have 20 commits, but I very much doubt a lot of them do.

It is next to impossible to come up with preseason high school rankings. That doesn’t stop the magazines from trying.

Yes, there is an East Coast bias, but you have to look deeper. The reason for the bias is that the East Coast schools are better. Over the years, I have probably seen 25 high school teams outside of the Northeast. Many of them (e.g., Milton, Vero Beach years ago) were quite good. A few even were legitimately top 10 teams. But that is the rare exception. That’s not to say there aren’t good individual players everywhere. Evidence of that is overwhelming. The last two Tewaaraton winners were from Michigan and Texas.

St Ignatius (CA) went to Colorado last week; they lost to Colorado Academy and beat Valor Christian. This week back in CA, SI lost to Sacred Heart. I hope the VC / SPSG game is good but SPSG is another level.

A lot of the teams on this list have 20 or more D1 commits. That's why.

I’m not saying that the East Coast doesn’t have the majority of better teams. I’m saying that there are a few teams west of the Mississippi that are better than some of the lower ranked top 25 teams.

Thank you for starting this, Kleizaster. As a lurker on the D1 Womens Lacrosse Forum, I am also interested in this topic since I have a daughter in HS. Most of my insights/opinions will center around the MD/DC/VA teams.

The IL list is a joke. I believe Darien lost 18 starters from last year's team. Maryvale and Glenelg Country also lost a lot, and the new SPSG stars (Florida, Clemson x2, USC, Maryland) have gigantic shoes to fill. SPSG actually lost the other day in a real game to Stone Ridge by 5. Stone Ridge should definitely be ranked top 15. McDonogh has their first game tomorrow to try to avenge their only loss last year (Georgetown Visitation). It is very hard to go undefeated in the IAAM, but injuries are probably the only reason McDonogh would not run the table. I heard they lost their 2025 UNC commit for the season at a UNC event last month. Archbishop Spalding could play the role of spoiler in the IAAM. Good Counsel will go undefeated in WCAC play, but they also play Stone Ridge and Cardinal Gibbons. Curious to see how American Heritage does tonight against Bryn Mawr (IAAM).

I very much believe in New Canaan; that's why they are my No. 1 for the preseason.

Stone Ridge has shown a lot even in the preseason, outpointing McDonogh in a friendly two weeks ago.

The intersectional games in New Jersey (Princeton, Hillsborough) and the Gains for Brains are going to be awesome contests.

Interesting. I will see New Canaan this weekend. I think they will be good, but I’m not sure about no. 1.

Saw Good Counsel clean Penn Charter’s clock yesterday. They also beat Agnes Irwin the day before. They look quite strong.

I see Stone Ridge beat St. Paul’s already.

Wonder how McDonogh will adjust to the new coach?

Curious as to your comment about Hillsborough and Princeton. Don’t expect them to be particularly strong, even in New Jersey this year.

Fully agree about the Gains for Brains. Was hoping to make it up there, but now I’m not sure I will. Disappointed.

Oops; I meant the neutral site game which will be held in Central Jersey.

McDonogh and Darien meet at Iron Peak Sports Events in Hillsborough, N.J. on April 13th. (Darien's calendar has that listed as being in Princeton, N.J.).

Thanks. Wasn't aware of that game. To my knowledge this is the first time McDonogh has come up to Jersey. I think the first time they ever went north was in 2019 when they went up to Manhasset.

St. Paul's is returning the "home and home" favor and is going up to Darien on April 7 (that's a Sunday, but that's what the schedule says).

So in the "year after," Darien is playing McDonogh AND St. Paul's. Good for Lisa. Not many coaches would do that.

Watching the replay of this afternoon's feed between St. Paul's and Valor Christian. Gators are thus far cruising. They just slapped a tall, quick defender on Eliza Osburn and that seems to have short-circuited everything for the tourists. That and St. Paul's winning almost every draw. I don't have pad and paper with me but I estimate the score is something like 8-1 for the Gators midway through the third quarter.

13-4 was final. SPSG pulled starters late third.

Valor Christian is probably #3 in colorado. Outside the UNC committ they don't have much and they were never going to compete with St. Paul. Colorado Academy beats them regularly

Have to say, the inconsistency in scheduling between teams is pretty annoying. Some have played 4 games, others have yet to play 1. Really screws up with ranking these teams accurately. Would like to see a more centralized method to this.

Polls after *week 1* results

US LAX MAG
1. McDonogh (Md.)
2. Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.)
3. St. Anthony's (N.Y.)
4. New Canaan (Conn.)
5. Darien (Conn.)
6. Archbishop Spalding (Md.)
7. St. Anne's-Belfield (Va.)
8. Sacred Heart (Conn.)
9. Episcopal (Pa.)
10. Stone Ridge (Md.)
11. Victor (N.Y.)
12. Good Counsel (Md.)
13. St. Paul's (Md.)
14. Wilton (Conn.)
15. Garden City (N.Y.)
16. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.)
17. Glenelg Country (Md.)
18. Fairport (N.Y.)
19. Agnes Irwin (Pa.)
20. Summit (N.J.)
21. Georgetown Visitation (D.C.)
22. Skaneateles (N.Y.)
23. Greenwich Academy (Conn.)
24. Archbishop Carroll (Pa.)
25. Penncrest (Pa.)

Inside Lacrosse
1. McDonogh (Md.)
2. Darien (Conn.)
3. St. Anthony's (N.Y.)
4. Maryvale Prep (Md.)
5. St. Paul's School for Girls (Md.)
6. Bayport Blue Point (N.Y.)
7. Archbishop Spalding (Md.)
8. Glenelg Country Day (Md.)
9. Sacred Heart Greenwich (Conn.)
10. Episcopal Academy (Pa.)
11. New Canaan (Conn.)
12. Archbishop Carroll (Pa.)
13. Oak Knoll (N.J.)
14. Wilton (Conn.)
15. Agnes Irwin (Pa.)
16. Summit (N.J.)
17. Fairport (N.Y.)
18. Colorado Academy (Colo.)
19. Victor (N.Y.)
20. Chatham (N.J.)
21. Garden City (N.Y.)
22. St. Anne's Belfield (Va.)
23. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.)
24. Massapequa (N.Y.)
25. Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.)

St. Anne's Belfield (Va.) enters both lists after after 2 top 25 wins. The win over Stone Ridge was particularly impressive..Don't know anything about this school but they are 5-0 with good wins. IL has Cardinal Gibbons (NC) still ranked despite having 3 losses (albeit to ranked opponents) but Good Counsel isn't ranked who is easily a top 25 team.

A.Heritage and Bayport play tonight so we'll see how that game goes.

18 starters? No wonder they went undefeated.
