I think it’s fair to say the Blue Jays will be the highest ranked B1G team in the polls this week.

Or,

Tillman figured out how to play Penn State at halftime.
Tillman is a phenomenal leader of men, great recruiter but not exactly a good in game coach.

I know I will get roasted for saying it but if any other coach went 2-5 in the national championship changes would be in order. Sure making seven of them is impressive but Tillman more often than not has been bailed out by superior talent, just a simple fact.
So in those 5 losses, want to guess how many times Maryland was favored to win?

Take a wild guess.

Superior talent? Not in those cases.

2011 - Unseeded. Beat 8-seeded UNC, 1-seeded Syracuse, 5-seeded Duke, and lost 9-7 in the title game to 7-seeded UVA.
2012 - Unseeded. Beat 7-seeded Lehigh, 2-seeded Hopkins, 3-seeded Duke, lost 9-3 to 1-seeded Loyola
2015 - 6-seed. Beat unseeded Yale, 3-seeded UNC, unseeded JHU, and lost to 4-seed Denver 10-5
2016 - 1-seed. Beat unseeded Quinnipiac, 8-seeded Syracuse, 5-seeded Brown, and lost to unseeded UNC 14-13 (OT)
2021 - 3-seed. Beat unseeded Vermont, 6-seeded ND (OT), 2-seeded Duke, and lost to 4-seeded UVA 17-16

Record vs higher seeded teams in those 5 runner up seasons: 8-3
Record vs lower/unseeded teams in those 5 runner up seasons: 6-2

Tillman's first full recruited team (i.e., "his recruits") was that 2016 team.

To say Tillman isn't a good in-game coach ignores his actual, you know, record.

11 & 16 were probably a 50/50 and maybe 15 but setting aside 11 you have unique situations wil a UNC that year everyone knows and Baptists on Denver.

11 and 21 you may want back the other three are how seasons play out and champions win. Not always being the best team in a single elimination hence the need to get in.

There's maybe one other loss that any Maryland sports team suffered that was as upsetting as that 2016 loss. It took me a week to get over it.

Maybe Duke loss in the basketball Final 4 after being up 20 was worse. Some will say the Sweet 16 loss to Michigan State (the infamous Korie Luscious shot) was more painful, but that was a Sweet 16 game. The 2016 UNC was just brutal.

I’m sure but that’s how season go and often champions are won. They caught magical fire for a couple games end of season and book natl champs. They did have talent on that team.

I’d think the 11 one was tough.

Your jobs don't keep you two you busy enough or I really must've struck a nerve to interrupt your day.

Call it as I see it. If you think 2-5 in the Natty keeps you employed you might want to check with past coaches with multiple rings and winning records in that game feel.

Blue Bloods like JHU, Cuse in the past canned legends for greener pastures when the message got stale. It's happening in chapel hill right now. Not saying that's happening to Tillman whatsoever, but the point being no one is ever safe.

outside of hopkins, which is its own animal, coaches don't get canned in lacrosse for not winning championships. they get canned for not contending for them.

Exactly. You have either the best coach in college lacrosse or the second best coach in college lacrosse (I think Tillman vs. Tiffany is an open question). And I don't see a close third. So you'll be fine.

Why do people talk about others time mgt? Especially younger line workers who are already closer to their Peter principle than they realize. Have my own business after years of being an in IBanker for years putting in hours you’ll never know and now I still work hard for my money but I’m not a “replaceable limited value add Jimmy” who has to account for their time-so when you make that comment it speaks to how low level you are not the other way around.

Fantasy land. No one goes to 7 title games in 12-13yrs and is fired that’s just the “R” word.

You took him seriously?
Not really. But I was bored waiting for a zoom call to start...
Hope the zoom call doesn’t suck too. (I’m a teams guy myself)

One of the all-time stupidest takes I’ve seen on these boards

this 1st half pretty strong evidence for what happens to offenses when you have a conference full of 6 foot 4 gorillas ready to rip your face off.

Stoller stood on his head the whole game. And Michigan in the 1st half left Scott 1 on 1 with no slide or double. He had 3 by the middle of the 2nd quarter. Not sure he scored another.
