My son went to Rockhurst so he could play and get an engineering degree. Classes split between Rockhurst and UMKC, worked out well for him

Why only D2? Lots of good D3 schools with both engineering and lacrosse. Top end of D3 is as good as D2. Think of RIT and RPI as examples. There are more.

Frostburg State has a strong Engineering Program where you pay Frostburg cost and take all your classes at Frostburg, but receive a University of Maryland degree!

We’re Canadian and I hear the D3 schools can’t scholarship us like D1 and D2

I’m sure laxfan is and we’ll do some more research but I understand as Canadians who will need some scholarship $, D3 cannot do that for us

Super, that’s great info and we’ll pursue Maryland for sure. Thank you!

Thank you, he’s researching that school right now with this recommendation

FWIW- there is a lot of money available at D3 schools - particularly for kids with high grades/scores who are looking at (i) schools with admission rates over 50% or (ii) highly-selective schools that meet 100% of demonstrated financial need.

There's lots of academic and other aid at D3 schools. I was surprised at how much my son got. Our final cost was comparable to an in state public school tuition for us.

Check out Embry Riddle or Florida Tech or Alabama Huntsville...all D2 programs with engineering. I'm sure there are more out there as well.

Check out RIT. Top D3 school and lots of Canadians attend for lacrosse. Florida Tech is D2 and the Coach is Canadian.

Florida Tech, D2, solid conference and pretty good team. Warm.

The best D3 school combo of lacrosse and engineering is Tufts hands down, then MIT, next probably Coast Guard (probably need to be American). RPI is a pretty good school w/a pretty good lax team. RIT has a great lax team, not the strongest academics (sorry Tigers).

I know it's been mentioned above, but Embry-Riddle is a school you should have on your short list.

They have a very strong engineering program, and offer some nice aid in addition to athletic money.

Athletically - They recently hired a National Championship wining coach and seem to be re-investing in the program to make them a winner. A guy like Jez isn't taking a job unless he sees the support is in place to make them a winner.

Oh, and they're in Daytona Beach, Florida....not a bad place to spend your college years.

Uindy is a top spot for D2 lax and they have a solid engineering program. Right in Indy too, can't beat a Metro-area.

A good academic d3 would have way more merit money to offer than d2 athletic money- in general. Milwaukee, Beloit, RIT, Stevens, RPI. you are nuts not to check those schools out.
