Michigan 2024

Post by coda »

There is no Michigan thread for 2024, so might as well start it. They are quietly putting together quite a class this year by Michigan standards. Currently 9 4 stars in the class. Amazing what a little success can do.

Most of y'all will not remember the birth of Michigan lacrosse, but this was a seminal moment in that journey:

Hat tip to Hopkins, yet again, for helping the sport grow. This time, in Ann Arbor.

Picture a bottle of peppermint schnapps, only much, much better. "Schnapps" btw, is another word for "liqueur" in America....alcohol with sugar and whatever else.

If you go into the game with the strategy of not switching on picks then your on ball defenseman needs to know how to get over or under a pick. Likewise the off ball defenseman needs to recognize when his teammate is going to get hung up on the pick and switch anyway. Yikes.

After seeing Michigan in person at the Big 10 tournament and watching them in the NCAAT, I was quite impressed. That team would have been competitive with UVA. Yesterday’s team wasn’t. Gonna be tough in the best conference this year.

It was not pretty. They just played really poorly in the first half. Defense looked like it was game 1. Didnt love the opening play of initiating from the attack. Basically going after the strength of UVa’s defense. Looked better in the second half, but the game was already lost. Not going to pull off the upset when you lose the special teams. Goalie and FOGOs were just out-played

Hey should do this on bourbon thread but down here everything even hinting at good or short supply has become a BS project to acquire competing with colleague and other white collar folks who will make old fashions w 20/23yr pappy promise it was 1/3 water when they barely touch it but it’s a story to tell your Charlie Crocker like friends while pretending to be an athlete at Cherokee Country Club. (like when those degenerates at bookers cut their production 1-3yes back just to jack prices). So all marked up outrageously if you can get stuff beyond the three Bs (Bookers, Bakers, Blanton’s) and similar or a little better mass produced.

Anyways a shop in a the hood happened to have a bottle of black maple hill which is good but has been overpriced since shops realize they could say “Julian Van Winkle” in relation about a decade ago. This place doesn’t know what it is but they have it marked at $90. Last time I bought one was probably 6-7hrs ago and that was like 65-70 area. It’s all a joke but how limited is the black maple hills these days and if I pay that am I going to be bitter when I see them coming around more frequently in 3-4mo at 60-70?

Depends which Black Maple Hill we talking about. The old taller bottles are fire and Im guessing havent been made for 20 years but the current squat bottles are unfortunately garbage

I suppose Coach Conry will be done with providing bulletin board material. He said something a dumbass 22 year old would say OR something he would say after a few beers off the record.

Time to zip it and focus on coaching.

I dont mind it. I actually think peoples reaction to it is quite funny. Some rally thin-skinned ACC fans.

Q has the Wolverines at 9 despite their inauspicious opener.
