Penn 2024

Post by Stiffler »

With a talented class coming in, a couple of transfers from UVA, and a roster that has lost some star power, 2024 will be a year that new stars have to emerge for the Quakers. It appears they will be lead by an experienced defense/goalie, as Murphy and Co. work to re-imagine the offense without Handley and Gergar. Plenty of highly rated offensive talent on the roster (Walsh, Smith, Dinola, Rubin, Mulane, Mulligan, Furrey, Shipley, Hoffman, Beachum, MacMillan, Scane, etc), so a big challenge for the staff to mold it together.

Yes
Emmet Carrol returning helps make Handley departing easier to take.

Stiffler, Any idea if any of the seniors on defense are sticking around for another year?

Big and talented freshman class. I am very excited to see. Outside of Handley, scoring from the midfield was lacking last year. Hopefully this group can help that. Big miss w Bond moving on. Huge hole to fill. Maybe Shipley can pull a Bubba Fairman from a few years back, and focus on defense and transition?? Agree with above post, team will go as far as defense/goalie will take them.

Leo Hoffman is playing Ontario junior box this summer,
he just joined the team,
playing with Matt Collison and Willem Firth.

There were no seniors last year who played on defense beyond BJ, and he is obviously done after a stellar career. If they can solve for Bond being done (big if), then they should be strong in front of Carroll.

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Shoulder is what I recall seeing, in one of those UA type “all star” games.

Any thoughts on the challenge of opening against G’town after two losses?

Not good karma at all,
especially if the goalie and Bundy heat up.

I just don't have a good sense of where the Quakers are at post Handley, other than they still have top 15-20 talent.

2 goals from Leo Hoffman,

back from injury, what looked like a pretty bad injury,

so that’s good, but they got too far behind the Hoyas to complete any kind of comeback.

Number 1 faceoff option got hurt on first play. Number 2 faceoff option got hurt on his first play. Number 3 fought hard, but the possession imbalance really hurt.

Squeaker. The Quaker Way..

Leo Hoffman. Well, he's a freshman. A little unfair to judge him when the coaching staff put him in that situation at the end of the game.

Carroll is good. Question is, can he carry them every game?

Great game for the Quakers and a lot of fun to watch. Wow, was Emmett Carroll good!
