So sad about Coach Tom Gravante leaving the Mount.
Re: MAAC 2024
Just finished rehab today (7 weeks post op on a meniscectomy) here in PA. One of the Iona freshman was in for some work. Sharp kid, really bought in and excited to lay the foundation of the program. Coach Surman, by this kid's assessment, is doing a great job. They are not looking to the portal (not that I think they'd be a compelling option at this point for most), but rather planning to go class by class growing their roster and foundation. I asked him why he picked starting a program at Iona versus somewhere more established. His response was the school and the coach. He said they scrimmaged Dartmouth and when they went live it was tough (played 1q and were down 6-0). But they were holding their on in the practice leading up to that. 17 true freshmen. Tough to run a full set of drills with those numbers. Basically this year they get to have some competition but it's not classified as a NCAA year, so they're all (right now) planning to stay on campus for 5 years. Just thought I'd share.

Re: MAAC 2024
Another good Saturday for the MAAC lead by Q over Bryant and Marist over Hofstra. LIU, Canisius and VMI with wins also. Nice to see when a few weeks ago the conference was spoken pretty poorly about in another thread
Re: MAAC 2024
I've seen Manhattan (scrimmage), Siena and Marist vs. Hofstra this year. They all played very hard, close games. Siena could have won and Marist did. Good to see the MAAC enjoying success. It's good for the schools and good for the game. Now, if we can only right the ship in Hempstead.

3-7 on the weekend for the MAAC with 4 one goal losses including a couple 2OT losses. Looks like a pretty competitive conference. Quinnipiac, Marist and Siena seem top 3 right now with a bigger conference schedule than past years starting next week

Re: MAAC 2024
Concern with Siena continues to be possessions due to weak face-off play. Near bottom of both the conference and D1 at 35% which is consistent with yesterday’s 9 of 27. With better FO play Siena probably doesn’t lose to Dartmouth by one or to NJIT off the first possession in OT.flyerfan17 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 5:50 pm 3-7 on the weekend for the MAAC with 4 one goal losses including a couple 2OT losses. Quinnipiac looks like they are going to be tough to handle. Good with the ball, force outside shots and the best goalie in the league
Re: MAAC 2024
Quinnipiac 7 and 0.
Playing top 20 lacrosse.
Horrible conditions yet good passing from Q.

VMI now 5-5 after win over Mt St Mary's. ...come back to NMCMS to play Navy next season. Renew the early season series.

Could this be the year Sacred Heart wins their conference and makes the NCAA Tournament for the first time?
