That first OSU goal didn't look close to crossing the line. A replay may have killed Myers. Good that it didn't matter. This is 2 years in a row now that Myers has squandered a great defense.
Also, kind of an understated thing but to win on the road late Sunday night in an emotional way and then come back early Saturday for a tough win.
2 years in a row in this game that he squandered a great defensive performance; but their defense last year was horrible. We made their defense look good last year. This year they're legitimately far improved.
Not gonna argue OSU defense in 2023, their faceoff was awful. He's squandered some all-american level talent (Van Buren and Hudgins) and now he's squandered one of he best defenses in the country. That's difference between Tillman and Hothead; one of 'em finds a way to win

The clearing game is improving. Now it's down to simple passing/ball handling errors.

Everyone wants "the guy" to emerge.

Until Erksa gets sharper change of direction dodges, big defenders that run will give him trouble.

Spanos today took a big step. When the Terps needed a goal in the first half and then in the second half, Spanos went hunting for it. And got them.

This is a December conversation, but right now the only choice for #1 next year is McNaney. Erksa is a great talent, but I wondered if they could afford to sit him for a possession or 2 after one of his unforced turnovers. Probably not because the offense revolves around him, but man there's so many turnovers

Reading the Diamondback wrap up of the game, this stuck out.
The two-goal first quarter marked the fourth-straight game the Terps scored two of fewer goals in the opening 15 minutes.

That's honestly unbelievable.

Also someone mentioned after scoring his 4th goal, Spanos was on the sideline with an arm in a splint. Anyone hear that or know any more? The last thing the Terps need is to lose him...

Looked like his left wrist. I think he got whacked after his great lefty alley shot. Hopefully it's not similar to Zap last year.

TERP Talk Post Game Today

Wayne and myself talked to Spanos as you can see on this video. I don't remember seeing a splint nor did he complain about any injury. Spanos was spectacular today and keeps getting better as the season goes by.

Thanks for all you do. They definitely wrapped up his wrist, and looked like protected it after his last goal celebration. Hopefully just a bruise but it was something

Got the win but poor offensive performance. Spanos saved the day with 4 goals and the D contributed 2. Too many turnovers - Koras with 5 and Erksa continues to turn the ball over and had 3 yesterday. Second line still cannot produce even though Whittier is looking solid and playing fast. #44 has the size but doesn't look confident yet. Logan and Wierman both had great games and back to their typical performance.

Was wondering the same thing. His absence was really missed. Hopefully it isn’t a season ending injury.

Quint loves bashing the terps but his analysis is spot on pre shot clock dinosaur offense

Without maltz terps lack any shooting, who will step up? Kelly, Murphy? Dubick or McPherson???

So many young guys not getting any runs, next year the midfield rotation will be interesting

Nothing wrong with pre-shot clock dinosaur offense,
when you have defenses to match - or in the case of last night's game,
a highlight reel goaltending performance.

Seems like there has been a little bit of a dip in offensive recruiting the past couple years. I would imagine if some of the young guys were capable they would be getting run.

Next year looks like the year where some young guys will help. I would imagine Ford, Draley, Gardiner, Schultz will all have a significant chance to help. Maybe even start.

I read it a different way. He said
“Be the Best” got two pole goals and four goals from Eric Spanos in an 8-7 win over Ohio State, while the defense limited the Buckeyes to 23 shots. That’s pre-shot clock era dinosaur offense.
To me he's saying 23 shots is pre-shot clock era dinosaur offense. Ohio States....

Every single offense in the conference struggled this week. All 6. Some great defense, but scoring goals was a chore. Reminded me a lot of the pre-shot clock era. This is probably what Conry meant with his dumb gorilla comment, but he worded it poorly. Stylistically very different from the two ACC games this week (and Cuse vs. Cornell). I would expect things to open up a bit for B1G offenses as teams adjust and the weather warms up.

The Big Ten has always been tougher to score in. They generally lack the elite attackmen the ACC has (Maryland has had them, but doesn't the last two years and otherwise it was really just Penn State with Ament), but also play more physical and do have elite defenders/defenses and goalies. Also usually a top notch face-off conference to help those defenses.

I think it's been exacerbated the last couple years with the ACC having these 5th year guys and also hoovering up the grad transfers. They've for the most part had the dominant offenses and 22-23 year old Tewaaraton attackmen. And for the most part had the better teams over the last few years, though not every year like they often like to proclaim and their friends in the media like to push - see: 2022 as well as Maryland being just as good and often better most years.

It'll be more dispersed and even in future years IMO. Next year is fascinating with so many teams having a lot of talent to replace and uncertainty about what their lineups look like
