I always enjoyed following who went where. Met so many of these guys along the way as players or coaches during recruiting. Hopefully this thread can be revived.

If anyone out there can update the D3 vacancies we have seen this spring/summer and the new coaches taking over these programs it would really be great!

Thanks in advance!
DD

I know that Centenary College of LA is on the hunt for a GA in addition to any transfers looking to play in Spring 2019.

There's a new interim AD on campus, Marcus Manning, who most recently oversaw the addition of MLAX at Maryville (D2). So, the program appears to be trending in the right direction.

Grant Zimmermen will take over reigns at Centre College in 2019. The former coach Dan Sharbaugh will be the first coach at Illinois Tech and they start play in 2020.

Green Mountain College (VT) was originally set to go NAIA but looks like they pulled their posting and now have no info at all about Lax on their website. Too bad.

Green Mountain dropped the program. It was rumored for a few years, and from all accounts athletics are the least of their problems. School may not exist in a year or two.

The North Atlantic Conference (where Green Mountain played during their NCAA days) has had a few teams come and go in the past few years. Maine Farmington dropped their lacrosse team not too long ago. This year New England College and Castleton, who had met for the NAC championship every year, have both moved on to new conferences (more on NEC below), and GMC had planned to be out this year as well with their move to NAIA.

From the looks of things the NAC has joined up with the NECC to share an AQ- https://www.nacathletics.com/general/20 ... 0829mtsjhc

I think its safe to go ahead and pencil in New England College for the NAC / NECC AQ

**Sorry, this isn't really coaching change info, but interesting nonetheless**

Word is that the Centenary College of Louisiana's head coach left for an assistant position at Virginia Military Institute.

Assistant Coach CJ Seling appears to be the interim. I'm pretty sure he has a real world job that pays far more than a D3 lacrosse job in Louisiana. Their website doesn't say if a search is underway or not. Not surprising as D3 SIDs are some of the worst in the business at updates.

With Sam Ashton having left UDallas to return to Lake Erie as the head coach there, the SCAC is proving they cannot hold on to decent coaches as they try to grow the conference.

These colleges in non-traditional lacrosse areas are going to have to learn to pay a higher than market salary & award more academic scholarships if they realistically want to sustain a program by keeping coaches from jumping ship. The money doesn't just show up in big D1 football & basketball country. ADs & Presidents are going to have to open up their checkbooks.

So as far as coaching changes goes, here is a few places that have interim coaches in place as of right now:

Centenary Louisiana (CJ Seling)
Benedictine University (Chris Button)
William Peace (Colin Smith)

Not sure if these programs will promote these guys to full time or if they will be doing national searches after the season

Players seem to be digging RPIs new Coach Dag.
Fresh new asst coaches seem to be strong
Coach T will be missed, but will see what the youth movement can do here...

Dr McElroy (RPI AD) built the Albany Lax Program into a perennial tournament team and there is no doubt he can do the same at RPI. In addition, the facilities at RPI are as good or better than most other DIII programs. The benefits of having a D1 team on campus!
