Prediction that will most likely happen: Duke, VA, ND, or UMD will not make it past the first round. I will go with ND

How many officials popped champagne last night when they learned DU wasn't selected? !

Funny, I have an old friend up here who is a famous ref (inducted to central NY hall of fame) and actually was the ref in the Cornell game where the ill fated Cornell player was fatally injured, who got along with just about every coach. And he never badmouths anyone, BUT their was one coach, who he did complain about, and that was Mr. Tierney when he was at Princeton.
Some Cornellians or even Syracuse alums may know the ref I am talking about.

I know EXACTLY to whom you're referring(having ref'd with him many times)! The Tierney show actually started at RIT. Great coach, but he's the Bobby Knight of lacrosse!

OK, did you ref other sports? And if so, did you ever ref with Brownie?

We watching the same teams/games? Duke, VA, ND all advance. UMD will be a battle but I see experience winning out here.

I have watched the NCAA tournament enough to know that upsets happen. Last season G-Town was as good as any of those teams are this season. I am just thinking one of those four does not advance. Really not all that bold of a prediction.

Generally agree, that your premise isn't completely outlandish. On any given day, anyone can be beat much better teams, and you are saying only one of the 4 will get upset

Fun math fact: if each of the top four top seeds has an 80% chance of winning its opening round match-up, the probability that all four win is 41%.

There will be some GREAT quarterfinal games assuming most higher seeds hold serve...

Hopkins at 6 got a huge break, Bryant didn't even play one team in the top 20 yet alone beat one. You can argue their best win was Brown. Penn St at 5 gets a much tougher draw in Princeton.

If Delaware takes care of Marist on Wednesday they would be the last of the unseeded teams I would want to play, or Michigan.

Apparently Smithfield RI to College Park MD or to State College PA are both just a smidge over the 400 mile bus travel limit, which is why Hop gets Bryant.

Which means the Hopkins-Bryant first round matchup was PREORDAINED BY GOD, so people should stop complaining about this.

I can't believe this isn't getting more discussion.

#4 Maryland is playing Army, #17 RPI
#5 Penn State is playing Princeton (!), #9 RPI
...
#7 Georgetown is playing Yale, #11 RPI
#8 Cornell is playing Michigan, #12 RPI

#6 Johns Hopkins is playing Bryant, #33 RPI

Hopkins got a better draw than Duke and Virginia, as well; Virginia plays 23 Utah, Duke gets an opponent with a to 20 RPI.

Hopkins may have fallen to a 6 seed with their blowout loss to Maryland in the Big10 semis, but they were gifted with a matchup worthy of a 2 seed. Maybe the committee wanted to be sure to avoid yet another first round whitewashing.

Would a 2 seed get Notre Dame in the second round? Enough with the crying. It's incessant. Yeah, they got an easier 1st round matchup than PSU and Maryland but a much harder quarterfinal/FF path. It's a wash. Ask Tillman if he'd like to switch with Hopkins and I guarantee he'd say no.

BTW, Bryant is #19 RPI, not 33.

The Hop bracket shows up. Not quite 2007 though
