The shot was taken by a guy who had not taken a shot all season. That may be why. I watch more basketball then lacrosse but with 2 seconds left after a basket and up by a lot i have never watched a player on the wining team take a deep 3. Ever! 1) Generally, Coaches, players, referees are parents are all under varying degrees of financial pressure. Players and parents have tuition bills, coaches and referees are not generously compensated. The risk of manipulating point spreads for financial gain is a temptation that I'd prefer not be present.
2) For this board, I'm uncomfortable when the discussions trend toward "covering spreads" and other measurements that have nothing to do with playing lacrosse in the team or game threads. I recall that LaxPower specifically prohibited gambling discussions.
3) Generally, I guess that we can't escape the presence of gambling in sport. Having dedicated gambling threads on Fanlax is likely a good compromise. It is interesting to see the predictions.

It adds nothing to the sport of lacrosse or any other sport. If you need gambling to make you interested in the game or a particular game - you are not a sport's fan, you are a gambler. Given the general pay scale of officials in the sport, the ability to bet on point spreads, makes them easy targets. We will, as a sport, in the future have our own scandal. Can hardly wait.
