Of note for the incoming rats:
1. Only 2 from the State of Virginia
2. 11 States represented
3. Last year they were youngest D1 team and this year they may be even younger
4. While the coach used various line ups through the year, basically only two starters are gone, both at middie. Will be interesting to see how the depth chart plays out.

Not sure who and name does not matter to me but the expected Rats to show up at matriculation all arrived...and are in the process of getting into the best shape of their lives.

Interesting side note, this class, one of the smallest in recent history, was certainly not because of the lacrosse recruits. They make up almost 5% of the total rat class. Coach Pupura and staff are certainly out there recruiting and as reflected last year, are making a significant impact to improving VMI lacrosse.

I am not sure where the Lee-Jackson will end up once the pendulum stops swinging, if ever. A scrimmage? Last year VMI ran it like a scrimmage. W&L did not. A game/scrimmage as part of a three team event like this year? A Fall Ball game but not named/no trophy/MVP plaque? Or the full pomp and ceremony with a few thousand showing up, tailgating, custom T-Shirts, etc.

I am for the later. For two schools that basically share a campus but could not be farther apart in most other aspects, Lee-Jackson is the perfect setting (especially when held at W&L). The last true Lee-Jackson (2019) the rat class was marched over to the game and I think W&L fans still outnumbered VMI 3 to 1.

Call it what you want. Battle of Lexington? Whatever. Just play the game. It was something special and unique and would be a shame to lose it or have it become just a scrimmage.

Lee-Jackson game as you know it is dead. The commandant of VMI and the president of W&L had major disagreements about the name with neither willing to yield. As I understand it the coaches had to beg to even be allowed to continue scrimmaging and neither school is allowed to promote it anymore.

Congratulations to Scout Ripley for being awarding the Three Legged Stool Award at VMI. The award is based on a vote from VMI faculty and staff throughout post and given annually to the top VMI cadet-athlete who excels academically, militarily, and athletically.

Scout will be joining the Marine Corps when he graduates (and yes, his Grandfather is “that” Ripley if you know anything about USMC lore).

Second game for VMI versus Lenoir-Rhyne halftime VMI up 7-2. And for what it is worth Lenoir-Rhyne beat W&L 13-12.

Any Intel on the scrimmages yesterday? Heard the Jax game was tight until Jax scored the last three for 15-10 final. Heard that UNC game was 6-1 or so but may have been split UNC squad.
