Did their coach step down or did they figure out the duel coaching thing doesn’t work? Looking at their site his not only still listed but listed under 3 jobs

Hearing they had a few candidates, but nothing worked out. Now the plan is to elevate last year's GA up to HC. Erik Badger. Not bad for his first HC gig.

Absolutely. One of the reasons why I wanted to circle back on the topic. I know a number of coaches across all divisions, but have no clue about this young man. Best of luck to him (and no knock to him) but wondering if timing (or possibly money) had to do with the hire as playing for a national championship last year would seem (on the surface) to draw a better pool of candidates.

I’m scratching my head on this one too. I think you hit on all the possible reasons for the hire but left out young and impressionable easy for the AD to control. But one also has to think Mercy may be in trouble financially. Just a guess.

Thought didnt even cross my mind but definitely a valid point. That has become a reoccurring theme in D2

Not sure what his deal was at Canisius but not sure I understand this move unless he has some prior connection or just wanted to be a head coach. Says a little bit about the level of care in the athletic department at D&E when his press release has a Davis and Elkins Tennis logo...

I have never heard of them before you posted this - they are not either NAIA or NCAA...

They’re USCAA which is a separate governing body away from the NAIA or NCAA. It’s for Small Colleges typically around 1000 students.. these schools also often have religious affiliation's but I don’t think this school does… rules are very similar to NCAA D3. You’ll typically see them play a D3 D2 schedule with a few JUCOs as well. You’ll see NAIA or D2 or D3 schools be affiliate members of the USCAA if they fit the size model like Daemen College in Buffalo (NCAA D2) or Southern Virginia (NAIA prior to reclassifying NCAA D3) both school won USCAA National Championships in basketball. It gives those athletes a chance to continue to compete if the don’t make their respective national tournaments. Like a NIT or ECAC in D3.. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them announce in the future of going NCAA. It seems like they don’t offer a ton of Sponsored Sports currently but are adding XC and Volleyball in 2024.

No collegiate coaching background and played 3 games in 3 seasons at Le Moyne. Thinking not a lot of people applied. I imagine Northwood is struggling financially and are following the typical D2 structure- heads in beds! If we're actually good at lacrosse, that's just a plus.

That is a theme that is running rampant across Division II and Division III
