Small correction. Loyola’s Riley Seay actually want to D2 Lenoir Rhyne and had a heck of a year.

Cornell senior goalie Chayse Ierlan has entered the NCAA's Transfer Portal as a grad student for the 2024 season, multiple sources tell Inside Lacrosse.

A four-year starter for the Big Red, Ierlan officially entered his name on Thursday morning and went on to make 12 saves in Cornell's 13-12 overtime win over Princeton to clinch the Ivy League regular season championship on Saturday.

Ierlan currently ranks in the Top 10 nationally in both save percentage (55.9%) and goals against average (9.99 GAA) while averaging 13 saves per game in 2023. Particularly excellent in 21-save outings in early season wins over Penn State and Yale, he was given third-team recognition in IL's Midseason Media All-American list in late March.

Since joining the Big Red as a five-star recruit in the fall of 2018, the 6-1, 195-pound Victor (N.Y.) native has started all but two games for Cornell, picking up honorable mention All-Ivy honors as a freshman in 2019 and leading the league in save percentage.

He started all five games in the shortened 2020 season, missed the 2021 season (along with the rest of the Ivy League) and then helped lead the Big Red to the 2022 national championship game. Ierlan finished last season with 212 saves, a 10.96 GAA and a 52.6% save percentage.

Man. There are a ton of teams who would love this guy. Even teams with returning starters….a team in Charlottesville comes to mind.

Pretty sure UVA is happy with Nunes, especially coming off a big performance against ND. He'll be back next year.

Okay. Let’s agree that Gary and Petro are willing to take Ireland’s call then! Lol. (I keep assuming Will Mark only has one year of eligibility; does he have two? ).

Lars recruits so well and is very judicious about his use of the portal and unwilling to risk team chemistry unless there is an unfilled need. He not only has a rising star in Nunes returning for 2 more years, but another stud red shirt 1st year goalie who will be eligible next season. I can’t imagine any circumstance where he would risk losing what he already has on the roster, where only one guy plays. Look for him to focus instead on areas with heavy graduation losses like short stick DM and the face off X, etc, etc..

You’re correct.

By the way, who are the freshmen that he red-shirted this year? I’ve heard they are talented kids.

Joey Terenzi and Ryan Colsey at attack or midfield and john Schroter-Long Pole. All will be expected to be solidly in the rotation next year.

schroter will have competition for saustad's spot. i'd be surprised if they go for more than depth at faceoff in the portal.

with all the losses to the top 6 on offense, i'd expect the high profile add to be there. ssdm seems like a no brainer if they can get one they like.

Maybe, you have info which I do not, but it isn't yet completely clear who might return with eligibility, and who might not from the offensive rotation. Dickson, McConvey, and Conner are out of eligibility, but there are others with eligibility remaining who could choose to return if they can find a good Grad program at Virginia but some also might find a better fit Grad program elsewhere. How Virginia ultimately ends up in the tournament may also play a big part in those decisions. At this juncture, Shellenberger is expected to return. Not sure on the rest. Apologize for responding to this on the Transfer portal thread. This discussion should go to Virginia thread if there is anything further.

Does Miezan have another year? Technically this is still within the school year of his senior year for football. When you play a different sport, they give you an extra year of eligibility (i.e. Pat Spencer at Northwestern). Since he's playing lacrosse in the same school year as football, does he have another year?

he had mentioned a while back they were working on it.

considering he took on a non-medical redshirt, then had 2 injury shortened seasons (one during covid year) and played only 2 years essentially that sapped eligibility, i suspect it won't be a problem.

it's a portal discussion, it's fine. what i meant was the amount of losses to the top 6 on offense, not that they'd lose all of them. 3 guys for sure, as you say, and maybe 4 in cormier. no inside info on him.

that's a lot, and a lot of production. i expect they'll be in the market there.
