Well I wouldn’t put much stock into it. SVU has more on this list and W&L apparently beat them by 25 in a scrimmage this fall. It’s almost like we should play the games first…

don't worry... the list is pretty much a joke. a lot of AA caliber players left off, and others who have no business being on there. US Lax doesn't have a qualified person researching and writing.

at the end of the day, prove your worth on the field.

The more I look at W&L’s schedule and other team’s rosters that are listed the more difficult this season becomes. Just saw CNU’s roster of TEN 5th years which includes Dylan Rice along with a senior class of 8. That’s 18 players at their physical peak. They also have a mid transfer from Richmond who looks to be repeating his Soph year at CNU. I anticipate that Lynchburg and York will have a slew as well.Gettysburg had 6 juniors last year. All of a sudden they have 17 seniors this year on what they are calling their preliminary 2022 roster. They always play a tough schedule but with 5th years being so abundant the Generals have some particularly tough matchups. ONLY 59 days until York. Any thoughts on who will mind the nets and is Mize 100% ?

Having a slew of 5th years isn’t necessarily a blessing. Talk with the D1 teams - some of them had major chemistry issues and had trouble keeping the rest of the team content. Guys can also begin to burn out during a 5th year. Look at the big ten. teams like Penn State or Ohio State. They brought back a combined 8 5th year returning all-Americans. 2 of them repeated as all Americans. Rutgers did just the opposite, Hopkins and Michigan were much younger and were better than some of the older teams by the middle part of the year. At the end of the day having excess of 5th years brings its own set of team issues to manage, not everyone will do that successfully. I also count 15 seniors on the W&L roster so I’m not sure that I’d call them young.

Last year HSC leads Lburg 8-7 in the 4th with maybe 6 minutes, ( regular season) HSC had dominated when Lynchburg only had 4 goals at half. Hornets score 7 in the second half and when the score was HSC 8-7 w 6 min to go Lynchburg scored 4 goals to win it. It was the 5th year and seniors that won that game. You usually win with your senior class, 5th year players on the D3 level are a significant advantage at the line of scrimmage. Let’s see how York, CNU, Gettysburg and Lynchburg do this year against W&L and have a conversation afterwards

24 days until York, this will be a tough game. York possess a 6 game win streak looking for 7. Tough group with SIX returning 5th year players along with 9 seniors. Curious to see the Lynchburg roster. Generals have played them to 1 goal games 2 times during the 6 game run York has. Thinking the Generals D will be the strength of the team once again. Any notice on who the goal tender will be and is Mize back 100% ?

Btw I think a of the Graduate players 2 are 6th years. That and add Bill Briegel a transfer D man from Hartford outstanding player out of Pen Manor.

Games at York

Don’t have a recap but was told by a parent unofficial scores. W&L beat UMW 14-4 and beat VT 25-5. VT beat UMW but don’t have a score

Neither game was very competitive. W&L started a bit slow in first game against MW but got going pretty quick. Offense moved the ball well and found open shooters, W&L dominated the face offs in both games with a bunch of guys taking them and doing well (Ned Mize, Gallagher and Tussing getting the most work) Defensively they werent tested much, starting D played fine, goalies didn't see many shots. I think 4 of 5 MW goals were just missed 2 slides right on the crease. Spagnoletti (Sr) started v MW Seeds(Jr)started v VT, neither saw a ton of work both were good against what they saw. I think just about everyone played. I thiink the starting Attack was Witherall, Ott and Pokorny. The freshman Burns played alot and looks good. Honestly it was hard to get any idea how they look against the level of comp. Thursday will be a better indicator. Sorry for lack of detail but the pinnies are tough to read. A few guys were out, G MIze, Rhone, Schnoor for sure plus a couple others I couldn't tell who they were.

I will say the offense appears different, more ball movement, less one on one. Clears seem more aggressive with both goalies looking to outlet the ball quicker to the midfield. Team appears to be a bit bigger in the midfield too.

Preseason AA list is out, like to see some Gennies make liars out of the pollsters https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/ ... f-54445801
I have to say CNU and York have made an incredible climb the past 4-6 years. Both programs have been competitive but they’ve kicked it in to another gear. Great coaching and having an excellent plan has propelled them into the top 10, both are final 4 candidates. The Gennies may be facing one of the toughest schedules I’ve seen them face. I’m thinking best case they go 12-5 and worst case 10-7 in the regular season. York, CNU, Denison, HSC,Gburg, Lynchburg and Roanoke( not sure what Noke brings this year).Denison has an edge in that Koch may know the Gennies than they know themselves. Looking forward to seeing this season unfold.

11-10 W&L over VMI according to the other thread. (8-3 W&L at the half).

Did they hand out the Worrell-Fallon Awards to MVPs or are they no longer doing that also?
