Sources: Gary Gait To Be Named Next Syracuse Coach

Gary Gait, widely regarded as the best player in lacrosse history, will be the fifth men’s lacrosse coach in Syracuse’s 106-year history, multiple sources have told Inside Lacrosse.
Outreaches to Syracuse and Gait were not immediately returned.
Gait will replace John Desko, a 1979 Orange lacrosse alum who’s been on staff since 1980 and the head coach since 1999. Desko has led ’Cuse to five national championships and has a career record of 265-92, and the Orange went 7-6 this season and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Sources tell IL that Desko is expected to announce his retirement this week.

“Hey boys, how you doing?... Good luck this weeken... oh, that’s right you’re playing us. Ok, see you guys this weekend, love you.” Or something like that.
Or do they deco and go to ‘Cuse?

So,
despite the “leak”, by mistake - on purpose,
looks like Syracuse is going to communicate this thing
in a certain order, beginning with the resigning of
Desko.

I am a little confused you are replacing a coach that has won four national championships with someone who has zero championships has a coach. I get the coaching change I just would have went in a different direction.

Rick Beardsley was my guess....
Not sure if there will be huge turnover of assistants ad volunteers since Gary was in the athletics building with a lot of those guys for the past few years.

Based on Gait's presser, March is currently out recruiting so it appears he's staying on. AS far as the rest of the staff apparently they will be named soon.

It seemed like there were posts just like this one last week but they included Gait as the new head coach and there were similar laughing emojis. If Beardsley is the DC, I will cry, not laugh.

I've only seen that he said the rest of the staff should be annouced soon. There are people on the Syracuse Fan site saying that they have inside information that Petro is already a done deal behind the scenes. Not sure what to believe but guess we'll hear any day now?

Apparently, Petro has accepted the 'cuse defensive coordinator position. And, supposedly, both Petro boys have decommitted from UNC...

Just saw the news about Petro, haven't seen anything about the twins de-committing..
