UNC vs. Richmond at 2 PM EST (ESPN+)

UNC is arguably the best team in the land. Richmond is 0-1 with a 7-8 loss to Loyola (who lost to UVA yesterday, 15-12). Probably won't be a close game but stranger things have happened.

richmond/loyola looked sloppy both ways.
but given loyola/uva and high point/unc, this wouldn't be a stretch to think richmond can or will make this competitive.

though losing 14 of 15 faceoffs isn't making it easier for them.

I saw the faceoff stats and thought about you.

If I had a choice, I would choose losing almost every faceoff every game.

i picture basketball and checking it up top.
richmond has some skills. and a decent d. too many mistakes. you have to play better to beat unc.
nobody in the acc is invincible.

Yes. I like make it take it. Not you take it all the time. Only when I am far better would I sign up for that!

Richmond needed to play a strong game in all aspects to win against UNC. They struggled at X in the 1st half and O was inconsistent. That won't get it done against the best. UNC D was far better yesterday than against HP. UNC is incredibly deep at O-mid and Spider D-mids are young. Experience, talent, and size won the day at midfield. IMO at this early point, they should be ranked #1. They are an excellent team. Spider close D was very good and # 6 was solid on Gray. Matched quickness and toughness. However, it points to UNC depth that they didn't need him to be a major contributor. Little consolation for the Spiders when you lose, but they will not back down.

The refs better get a check on the contact early in the game or this next one will get out of hand quickly. You cannot tell where/when it started on TV because you do not see the whole field but the chippy hits were mounting as the last game went along. I am not calling out either team but three games relatively together time wise, in-state, etc. can all lead to frustration by players. Should be fun to watch if I am not out on a field.

I didn't get to watch the 2nd half, but I thought the Richmond defense was really good. I don't recall any easy, uncontested goals.
