Landmark 2021

We found out last week that Goucher College is staying online for the spring. Very disappointed (my son attends there). So Goucher is out of sports this entire year. Pennsylvania has a 10 day travel quarantine still, so out of state play probably wont happen. President of Goucher said 2 other Landmark Conference Schools also aren't playing this year.

Anyone else have any more info?

Well, your information is inaccurate at this point. Pennsylvania doesn’t have a 10 day quarantine on out of state travel. Players are getting tested so that’s not an issue.

As far as 2 other teams, I’ve spoken to 5 Landmark Coaches and all 5 have told me they are going to play. I’m sorry your son picked a school that’s not committed to playing. I’d be very disappointed also.

Coaches are saying a lot of things right now in the landmark and other conferences. Coaches either 1.know, 2. Hope and/or 3. Wishfully hopeful.

Only a few conferences have come up with a decision and a plan. The Landmark has not yet and “the street” says that there could be a couple of more schools following the gophers! Sucks for all teams and players. Fingers crossed the LM can salvage a season.

Pennsylvania 10-day quarantine, or negative test within 72 hours prior to entry, if arriving from out-of-state (unless you were out-of-state for less than 24 hours).

So I looked at Goucher website and found this from prez:
"...for the safety of all our students, faculty, and staff we need to remain online for the spring semester."
"...we will proceed with a compressed 13-week spring semester schedule, commencing as planned on Monday, February 8th with the overwhelming majority of our classes delivered online, and not offering a residential housing option for our students this spring."
This seems to confirm the reports above.
But someone please explain this... https://athletics.goucher.edu/sports/ml ... 1/schedule

The Goucher announcement was weeks ago. Not even news at this point.

The ten day/test standard doesn't have to be met because of no overnight travel. You guys need to get on board.

Scranton and Drew are back in person, Susquehanna comes back a class a week and Moravian is back and already practicing.

Catholic even has a "Commitment to Spring Competition" up on their Covid board and comes back Feb 7th.

E-Town is back on Campus the 14th.

Landmark Basketball is already playing...and they are indoors...

The ten day quarantine or negative test applies to travel from outside Pennsylvania into Pennsylvania. The 24-hour exception applies only to travel from inside Pennsylvania outside Pennsylvania then back in.

If Etown travels to Drew for a game and returns to Etown all in less than 24 hours, the exception applies and no quarantine or negative test is required.

If Drew travels to Etown, the Drew players have to have negative tests within 72 hours before arriving in Pennsylvania or they have to quarantine for ten days.

Among the other exceptions to the quarantine requirement is travel into Pennsylvania for work. Maybe that could apply to competition, but that's not my department.

It also occurs to me that the Patriot League is playing basketball. Those games are only on the weekend and I know teams are testing; I assume the tests are (among other reasons) to meet the 72 hour negative rule when Loyola, for instance, travels to Bucknell.

Sorry if I was unclear....
I was pointing out that Goucher apparently announced that they are holding all virtual classes and closing all the dorms for Spring.
Yet their lacrosse team has games listed on 2021Schedule.
(And game is on opponents schedule as well.)

I appreciate the info on quarantines but was looking for an explanation of how a team can function w/o a campus.

Goucher is not playing as of 2/20. Only in conference games for most teams. Some are playing each other twice.

Wondering how many teams have Grad students back and how many were key players from past years

I can only speak to SU...that number of grad students or 5th years is 0. Trying to get a couple of OOC games but it is difficult. Schedule is in flux.

These picks are purely a guess given limited information to go off.

Based on the fact that we have 2 classes of turnover that we really haven’t seen I could not even hazzard a guess.

Your "limited information" seems to be wrong did you see Susquehanna play last year?

Haha!! Like I said, just a guess. But yes I did see them play last year and like you wasn’t impressed. That being said, they didn’t have their best player due to injury and the rest were mostly freshmen. This year they have arguably the best goalie in the conference, hands down best attackman in the conference and some young studs on D. I picked them 4th so that isn’t much of a stretch. Susquehanna, Drew and Moravian are probably all about equal but I give the edge to the River Hawks because of Colton Dick on attack. My pick for conference player of the year. Should be an interesting and fun to watch season with doubling up on conference games.

should be interesting with catholic and Etown having new coaches. Hard to pick at team without knowing the rosters
