I’m mixed about the Liberty League’s position statement on starting conference play.
Glad that there’s a possibility that games will be played and at the same time scratching my head at the date league games will start. To me, no games earlier than March 26th suggests that they’re buying some time to see how things play out. A lot can happen between now and the 26th and if things start to tick up they can pump the brakes again. For now the LL looks like the good guy because they’re moving forward and keeping players interested but they clearly have an exit strategy in place.

Some teams are playing out-of-conference games before the Liberty League start up date. The vibe I get from my son’s team and the coach is pretty optimistic, though still cautious.

Correct Liberty has set a date on their date to start conference play. However, coaches are allowed to schedule games outside that date. IC has several on schedule but probably subject to change if covid numbers rise

SUNYAC banned fans for the 2021 season. I expect Liberty, Empire, etc will follow suit. NYS is beginning to open up outdoor gatherings to a limited amount of people, but not enough to accommodate a typical D3 college lax crowd. This will be two consecutive years of no live lacrosse, D3 or otherwise, for most of us. Quite the gut punch, and no guarantee next year will be different.

Good start for Larson Sundown,
I’ll be catching their games.

Is Alex Mapstone expected to do much for SLU? Hoped he’d do well at Hobart but Raymond gave him a quick hook for being way too loose with the ball and a few months later he’s gone to sunny Canton Ny.

Kind of surprised he wasn't put on the Tewaaraton list.

SLU looked pretty tough for their first time out this year. They turned the ball over with some sloppiness 5 possessions in a row early but Fisher wasn’t able to take advantage of it. The defense looked strong. The freshman FO middle looked good vs Post, kept him at 50%. Mahoney looked strong. Not surprising, I remember him being a lax rat with his brothers behind the stands during games. The goaltender looked very capable. 14-10 was the final SLU on top. :D

IC pulled out the dub but way to close and seems like they haven't changed much since years before. Late/no slides on defense and crowded O. Going to be a tough stretch of upcoming games

SLU’s defense played great vs the Cards and the Saint’s goalie had a nice debut. First year face off came in after Prime got hurt and played great. Couple of things on offense to work out- 51 shots & 30 on cage - a bunch in goalie’s stick & a number of layups that were not completed - 2 for 7 on EMO which hurts- aside from those shooting issues - first year attack Murphy played like he belonged there. All in all a solid showing for first game of the season.

Bombers never looked ready to play vs Fisher and it showed.
Give credit to the Cards they looked good and nearly pulled off a huge upset over RIT earlier in the week. Not a team you’ll want to see in the tournament.

Union vs Trinity will be a good one to check out on Sunday.

SJF knows how to move the ball quick! IMO they looked sloppy as well, think they woke up in the second half though. Ithaca seems to be the same team as in years past. Defense is alright but their "empire 8 offense" doesn't work well against better teams, so cramped, forced shots, and poor decision making. They also seem to lack some depth which is evident. 3 middies were out due to injuries vs SJF

Looks like the Engineers are a go- Ithaca, Skidmore, Clarkson have them scheduled as well.

SLU looked sloppy af...should be an interesting match up vs IC, as always. My take either IC takes the dub no big deal or it’s another close one

Tough loss for SLU last weekend, did not look ready to play against top caliber team like Union... younger team will hopefully be more ready for RIT on Saturday.

On another note still not sure how D3 community still so high on SJF, Saints could of beaten them by larger margin if not first game of year, always ranked near or above SLU in many polls on this forum, losing to RIT by 1 really shouldnt be "best" result keeping them high in rankings, still at top 15 program but seeing them ranked ahead of Union and SLU is laughable
