Section 230

Trump is screaming about repealing “Section 230” which protects online companies from liability for what users post. Typically think of Twitter, Facebook etc, but Yglesias below notes repeal could affect many small forums.

(@Matthew Yglesias 🍦) Tweeted: When politicians yell about Section 230, they are obviously thinking of giant technology companies.

But at Slow Boring I run a moderated forum for members, which absent 230 would be impossible.

If the goal is to address big tech, you need a more tailored tool. https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status ... 28064?s=27

I'm surprised people within this forum aren't more interested in Section 230...

I've seen discussions about 230 in the politics forum (so it is discussed) and... I think, in general, people don't recognize how much this stuff impacts and will impact us. In other words, I agree.

Now that the election is over, I think this kind of dies back.

I don't see any sort of groundswell for 230 repeal among the current controlling members of Congress...

Couldn't agree more, Red.
