3 Covid treatment/vaccine options now is encouraging for ramping up manufacturing/ distribution. Seems there weren’t major issues in fall as distancing, small group instruction faired well. Not sold on long dark winter theory but certainly believer in continued precautions.Maybe scrimmage and/or early games may be altered?
Lynchburg is pumped for 2021. I expect W&L to again battle for the trophy!

Lynchburg returns 4 particular 5th years guys
- 2019 All-America - 1st team All ODAC Pole #43 Tyler Galleger
- 2019 1st team all ODAC middle #8 Colin Dean
- 3 year starter attack #10 Trammel Robinson..
- 2020 starter Middie Brooks Poli

- All Excellent SSDM’s return. #17 Riley Schmidt is the fastest guy in the field. Maybe he runs O..
- Returning All close D Starters -Tyler Galleger, Alex Pupshis and Albright!
- Lose Kevin Rogers #28 at midfield but his brother Brett may be a better player along with upperclassmen returning AJ Neives, Ty and Riley Mitchell.. Size to go downhill may be an issue?
- Attack will see capable competition in Ryan Kenny, Jack Speers and Dylan Wolfe and afew Stud Freshman. Not sure if 2019 Starter Kyle Lewis returns.. if he does attack will be stacked!
-Coach K Goalies are always solid.
- FOGO is again... questionable (since 2015 damn...)

Lynchburg returns 4 players for a 5th season. Did they actually graduate last year? Does that mean they are dropping another years tuition just to play lax. Unless it’s some type of graduate program I don’t see how that makes sense. Lynchburg tuition is close to 45k so the 5 year tab would approach 220k without aid. The class of 2020 at W&L is at work . Curious to see what other programs return 5th year players

From the Salisbury thread - appears the Gulls are returning 9 of their 5th year players:

“The nine returning seniors are listed below ...

Beyond the obvious individual talent on this team, it should be noted that this group of seniors will be the first to play a "5th" year together. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this team gets its chance. GO GULLS !!

Brett Malamphy - FO
TJ Ellis - G
Pierre Armstrong - OM
Griffin Moroney - A
Josh Melton - A
Emory Wongus - OM
Kevin Murphy - LSM
Drew Borkowicz -D
Brad Greik - DM”

Did Salisbury join the ODAC?
Greetings Big Easy, hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately Salisbury is not eligible to join the ODAC b/c it is a state school located in Maryland. Salisbury, CNU and MWU belong to a newly named C2C conference. Of the four power lax schools in the ODAC Salisbury plays UofLyn every year; RC and HSC intermittently and W&L seldom.

If some day for some reason the 7 schools named above combine to form a lacrosse conference, it would produce a very enjoyable schedule for the fans and rival NESCAC for quality of play.

Not sure if NOKE has graduate programs
UofLynchburg has graduate and doctoral programs
HSC has business and engineering graduate
W&L has only Law graduate..

HSC does not have any graduate programs.

ODAC groups 1-3 in no order:
Burg has the talent and athletes
Assuming W&L lost Hodgson due to graduation. If they have a replacement for him, can't count them out. Always have big athletic defenders and plenty of talent on offense, but they are very used to having the ball all the time.
HSC has the best face-off guy (assuming Hodgson gone) and a seemingly young team is now all grown up. Interesting to see what they can do.

4-5:
Noke.... who knows. They need to reload. Going to be a lot of new names on the field for them.
RMC - slowly and steadily getting better and knocking in top 4 door - beat Noke in 2019 regular season and lost in OT in the playoffs.

6:
Bridgewater - consistently getting better. Husslebaugh is a baller and they play a disciplined game. Love what Coach Grant is building.

7-9:
VWC - the Currier hangover was rough but they're starting to put it back together
Shenandoah -
Guilford - new coach

10-11:
Ferrum
Randolph

Undergrads have to be pursuing a degree. If they already graduated then they are in grad school unless they decided to get a second undergrad degree.

H-SC also doesn't provide financial aid for 5th year undergrads so it's always pretty rare to see a 5th-year player at H-SC. I don't know what on earth is running through a person's head to return for a 5th year at H-S unless their family is so rich that $60+K is just a drop in the bucket for them...

Thanks Scott, with some of these schools going at 45 to almost 70k I don’t get the 5th year unless as you stated previously it’s for grad school. I have to say Lynchburg should be loaded with those 5th year players, significant advantage.

ODAC Pre-Season Rankings 1-4

1. Lynchburg
Have to go with lynchburg with number 1 too much fire power even with the loss of Kevin Rodgers spear heading the offense. The attack is a year older and more mature. One of Lynchburgs main problems was they had no talent at the X but that will change with the recent transfer FOGO from UMW. The defense should be solid with the abundance of athletes Lyncburg always has. I think goalie could be a weakness. Strange since Coach K was a goalie himself.

2. Hampden- Sydney

Going with HSC for number two in the preseason rankings. HSC has been such a young team the past two years and now Coach Rostans babies are all grown up and ready top prove themselves. Also, the return of stellar 5th years Jack Hayden and Garrett Patnesky. The offense should be productive with losing no one on that side of the ball. Same with the defense with no one graduating. Also HSC has the best face-off guy in the conference. One key will be HSC loss of talented goalie Nick Arcuri. Should be interested who Rostan sticks in between the pipes. Heard they have a couple good goalies.

3. W&L

The Generals struggled in the shortened season last year. Will be interesting to see how they rebound in 2021. Will certainly be tough to replace Hodgson at the X. Also saw that Jack Taylor is no longer on their roster. Not sure if he transferred or what happened there, but certainly another significant loss. I haven’t heard of any 5th years coming back either. With all of that being said, W&L always reloads at every position and I am sure they will compete for a conference championship as usual.

4. RMC

Have to go with Randolph-Macon in the number 4 spot. They have been on an upward trajectory over the past few seasons and they are returning multiple 5th year players from what I have heard. Their number 1 point scorer Colin Disesa is back. They were undefeated before the season was ended prematurely last year. The teams they played were not that talented but never the less undefeated. I think RMC has the potential to make it to the ODAC tourney weekend.

Lynchburg with the number of 5th year players returning is going to be tougher than usual to beat. I think the Generals will match up well against HSC with Jack Taylor leading a D that while young last year should be much improved. I think the transfer from Richmond could prove to be pretty effective as a fogo. The Generals also return Garrett Mize on attack after he missed last season due to an injury. He’s a game changer. Greenspon and Mulholland need to step up and lead the offense with Mize. Coach Corrigan is gone, not sure of the impact with that. There’s some talent that needs to develop, last years freshman class was pretty strong. Two returning attackmen Schnoor from Conestoga and Kris’s are both intriguing players bringing frames of over 6’5” to the playing field, big targets with a large catching radius much like a receiver in the NFL

We shall see who has the best ODAC fogo
Senior 4 year starter, 64% in his career. Brummet and Hodgson went ~50/50 every time they squared off. As of today, I'll stand by my word the he is the best FO man in the ODAC, and most likely would have been an AA in 2020. Not to say my mind won't be changed when the season starts and we see what W&L has at the X. And @Dehunt, didn't you post something lat year that Brummet was one of the top 3 FO men in the country along with Hodgson?

Will Bou may be a fine fogo - stats at Richmond his freshmen year = 9/30 with 2 GBs in 6 games. Not great stats but obviously better competition at the D1 level. Lots to be determined.

So excited that it appears the ODAC will be playing this spring.

Excited to see some ODAC play this spring, curious to check out the different schedules/rosters as they slowly appear over the next few months.

I’m curious to see if playing this season will get some recruits from up north to consider the ODAC if other conferences don’t play. While ODAC doesn’t have exactly the academic reputation as some other conferences (still solid), they certainly have some great alumni bases that have some $$, always think that’s a part of the college recruitment process that’s always missed.

Will be an interesting season as restricted fall ball etc preseason could lead to upsets as teams have to gel quickly. As an ODAC alum certainly feel for these kids.
