Big 10 Women’s Lacrosse

Is this the year that Northwestern takes over ? They were knocking on the door last year. I believe the Cats are the most athletic team in the conference in 2020.
I think there is no question NU is althlrtic enough to compete with Maryland. The BIG10 championship game was not a fluke. I am not ready to crown them just yet. Want to see Maryland after a few games to get a read on the youngsters and life without Colson. But NU looks as strong as ever!Itsallgood wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 5:34 pm Is this the year that Northwestern takes over ? They were knocking on the door last year. It worked for me. And what a game - I remember seeing the last minute, but this time I saw the last 5 so better context.wlaxnut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 6:50 pm Let me know if any of you are able to pull up the replay of this fantastic game played back on April 28th, 2018 with Michigan going into Penn State to pull off an ending that will definitely be mentioned in the list of incredible finishes in women's lacrosse history. No hyperbole, that! This is the BTN+ website which usually requires a paid subscription but I think this replay is free. A quality broadcast all the way round. At least jump ahead to the last 5 minutes of the game. Well worth it! Check it out and let me know if you can pull it up. Thanks in advance.

Great! Glad you were able to watch it. That last few minutes was fantastic. One could easily point to that as the turning point in Michigan’s program. With Penn State awarded the ball after the goal plus foul to put the Lions up 11-10 with 28 seconds left, you would have thought the game was over. What a crazy sequence of events at the end to prove otherwise.RedFromMI wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 8:27 pmIt worked for me. I think the top 3 finish the same as last year - MD, Northwestern, Michigan. I think Johns Hopkins finishes 4th & PSU at 5th (which by btw, aren't even in preseason top 25...have really fallen off)Itsallgood wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 5:34 pm Is this the year that Northwestern takes over ? No trouble with most of your predictions. I have PSU as 3. My guess is you might underestimate PSU a bit. Madison Carter will be a difference maker this year for the Nittany Lions. No rooting interest, but I’ve seen her play and I think she can lift that team.8meterPA wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 9:12 pmI think the top 3 finish the same as last year - MD, Northwestern, Michigan. I agree with your perspective. Until proven otherwise, Maryland is still the team to beat, not only in the Big 10, but also in the nation.Maryland75 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2020 4:16 pm I’m not ready to crown NU as the Best in the Big Ten just yet. NU lost a lot of starters just like Md. Lasota is the main loss but also Quin, Weis in goal and Stein. Their freshman class is nowhere near Maryland’s and as good as Scane is, without last years surrounding teammates she will get a lot of attention by defenses. Especially since Lasota is gone. I think the Big Ten is somewhat wide open right now.
Agree NU is a serious offensive machine. If they manage to figure out the D, I see them on Championship Sunday. Every other part of the game is .wlaxnut wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 6:35 pm This Northwestern squad is a Wagon! So many weapons on offense. I see they have been working on their ride. They have an excellent draw specialist in Dwyer. Wow is she nifty and fast and shifty and elusive. Teams aren't going to be able to key on Izzy with the bevy of other offensive talent on that team. They are a real joy to watch.
They’ll probably destroy Boston College when they get here in April.
IMHO, the D will only be an issue against UNC and Cuse. They will outscore everyone else, including Notre Dame this weekend I believe.wlaxnut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 7:48 am They do have some work to do on defense but I think a lot of the goals they gave up were from mistakes, poor decision making in the moment, and let’s face it, garbage time goals at the end, rather than lack of talent or faulty strategy. We shall see as the season goes on however.
Garbage time, emptied bench, thinking about the post game tailgate with mom and dad....those were all factors in the apparent narrow victory over the dookieswlaxnut wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 7:48 am They do have some work to do on defense but I think a lot of the goals they gave up were from mistakes, poor decision making in the moment, and let’s face it, garbage time goals at the end, rather than lack of talent or faulty strategy.
