Christian Nationalists show who and what they are. It's a different Christianity than what most American's grew up with. I have never attended a church service that needed an armed militia to keep worshipers in or visitors out. No lambs of God here.
The sermon for the day: “Christ had the biggest cojones. Being men of Christ is being real men. So let’s be real men," Andrew said, adding that "true masculinity is found in Christ."

A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Not me. I would really like religion out of politics. ... no chance. The fact that I am an atheist does not mean I am not interested in the subject of religion on an intellectual level. I would welcome liberal Christianity re-engaging. The world was a better place when (liberal) Christianity was representing Jesus' position. Conservative Christians don't really think much of Jesus, and certainly don't represent his position -- to their mind "he is too soft"; they want him to be a "real man". Their own words!youthathletics wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 7:57 amAre you saying there is a chance...that you are soften up a bit about Christianity?jhu72 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 7:34 pm The coming of the Religious Left, A 3 year old article, an interview with Rev. David French (a real conservative) explains Christian Nationalism. Based on the latest 2023 PRRI/Brookings Christian Nationalism Survey quoted by French, only about 10% of Christians are hardcore fascists (CN). 67% of the US population is opposed to Christian Nationalism, 30% Strongly, 37% just opposed, 23%, mindless individuals and the dangerous 10%. The problem is the fascists have all found their way into the republiCON party, and more are running for office in 2024. They see this as their opportunity to tell the rest of us how to run our lives. They have allied themselves with white nationalist / supremacists, another unsavory minority group. There is a significant overlap between these two groups. The game the republiCONs are playing is to generate fear (over migrants and big city crime). Neither of these issues make very good issues if you look at the actual statistics, they are concerns, but neither is anywhere near being the worst they have ever been. Both were worse in periods under Trump.

So, here's the explicit connection between the Chief Nutbag of the Alabammy Subpreme Court and Dominionism.
I'm afraid a lot of suburban Republicans are in for a little surprise if these nutters get their 7 peaks...
In essence they are plotting to overthrow the US government and Constitution. And are pretty blatant about it.
I don't know about you, but that's not anything I can tolerate.

Actually, they were saying it plenty amongst themselves, and those paying close attention were trying to get the rest of us to pay attention to the danger...what has changed is that they've been emboldened by the acceptance of the MAGA GOP to go quite public about their intentions...nevertheless, in case some of our MAGA friendly posters get all twisted up, this strain of MAGA, White Christian Nationalists, is just part of the fascist impulse of MAGA. Their anointed Leader ain't a believer in anything, but in these folks twisted view, God is using Trump to achieve their aims...they certainly are and Trump welcomes them to his own benefit.jhu72 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 5:25 pm... don't think it is new or news that overthrowing democracy and instituting a Christian fascist nation is their goal. The Exevangelicals.
"At one point, when she was 12 years old, McCammon’s fear of damnation became so strong that she grabbed a knife and threatened to kill herself. Her parents responded by beating her — exactly as recommended by evangelical parenting experts like James Dobson."
"McCammon does not pinpoint any one moment when she went from evangelical to exvangelical. One thing seems clear, though: Becoming an exvangelical is as much an emotional process as an intellectual one. And the dominant emotion in that process seems to be disgust — disgust with cruelty, lies, hypocrisy."

Re: Religion in America
My calling as a Christian Minister.
"My work can indeed be called divisive, and I don't run away from that. In Luke 12:51, Jesus tells Peter, "Do you think that I came to provide peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division." In a sense, that's the calling of a true minister of the Christian faith. Even the evangelicals have laid claim to that perspective. Many evangelical ministers preach messages of division, speaking against homosexuality, feminism, abortion, immigration and countless other things. The difference between me and those kinds of evangelical minister is not in the approach but in our understanding of the faith. In other words, the difference is that the evangelical leaders are wrong, and I am not.
That's not mere arrogance on my part. The profound errors of evangelical teaching can be clearly defined in at least three areas. It's like a trinity of stupidity, preached by ministers who are more interested in power and wealth than in standing up for Christ."

Clearly you have never been to a Southern Baptist holy roller church service. This was over 40 years ago and was the only time in my life I ever walked out of a church service angry. There I was as a Catholic being lectured by some heathen preacher how evil the Catholic Church was. I didn't feel the healing love of Jesus Christ on that particular Sunday. Have you ever wondered why most synagogues need armed guards outside to protect the people inside from being gunned down?? Celebrating your faith is suppose to give you peace and contentment not fear and anxiety over who or what might come through that door.jhu72 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 5:29 pm Christian Nationalists show who and what they are.
