If we need that extra push over the cliff, ya know what we do...eleven, exactly.
Re: NYS Section V
Fairport looked really good tonight in all aspects of their game. FO guy Giggie was dominant so much so that P'ford went with a long stick guy on the second face off of the game. Final 8-3.
Cdga simply overmatched IQ with an aggressive, stout defense and strong FO play. Their sloth-like offense did enough to win but a late injury to a key attackman may spell trouble going forward. Hoping the best for him. Final 7-3.

Is the “sloth-like” offense a worthy successor to the “Armadillo” maneuver?Nigel wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 10:59 pm

IDK, is that 'armadillo' thing out of the Texas leagues? Might be more exciting than running 'yellow' all day long and passing around the perimeter so much.pcowlax wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 8:10 amIs the “sloth-like” offense a worthy successor to the “Armadillo” maneuver?Nigel wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 10:59 pm

Thx. 16:20 is the time to watch. The one team should've just pushed the entire pile of players over the endline for an out of bounds call. Re: NYS Section V
Is it noteworthy that a lot of the scores are all single digit or low double digit? Are offenses down in general in section 5 or defenses elite or something else?

The whole thing is on YouTube, albeit broken into segments. One game and one game only before being banned but what a wild idea. Anyway, I guess the sloths moved on but sounds like they will need to spin it a bit faster to keep advancing.
Re: NYS Section V
IMO offenses seem to be pretty one dimensional. Everybody want to play hero-ball and just rip shots. It's rare to see creative passing, cross crease (extra) passing, motion offenses and picks being set for cutters, let alone somebody actually having cutters. Defenses that slide early are rarely taken advantage of since passing is an afterthought. Lastly, It also seems that full field fast break goals are about as rare as an honest politician. Subbing mentality rather than pushing the pace has taken over too many games.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 10:04 pm Is it noteworthy that a lot of the scores are all single digit or low double digit? Re: NYS Section V
Interesting thanks. I just became an assistant coach for my sons first lacrosse team (u9) down here in Georgia this spring and am doing it again in the fall (though I am going to make sure he plays other sports as well).
This is the sort of thing o want to avoid our kids falling into even at this young age where if you’ve played for 2-3yrs or are a little better athlete/overgrown early there’s a huge difference.

Coach Massere won alot of titles in Sec 3 around his teams outstanding passing ability.Nigel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 11:03 pmIMO offenses seem to be pretty one dimensional. You should have watched their collapsing star drill with four balls moving at the same time. Hard to follow watching it let alone participating in itcradleandshoot wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 8:36 pmI was fortunate to see WG play numerous times. I remember watching John Galloway going through his pre game routine before a sectional quarter final game. He was far and away the best HS goalie I ever saw play. His routine wasn't just coach firing shots but included a juggling routine for his hand eye coordination.Kismet wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 11:10 amYou should have watched their collapsing star drill with four balls moving at the same time. Chance to see 2024 WG this weekend as they visit Fairport on Saturday 4/6. Wildcats recently visited Shen in Sect 2 and lost by a goal, but their socks were high and tight.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 11:56 amI remember watching John Galloway going through his pre game routine before a sectional quarter final game. Do you have an opinion about the name change that Canandaigua was forced to make. I know they had just installed brand new turf with a bold and beautiful BRAVES logo that NYS made them get rid of. I wonder if the name Gray Wolves will offend anybody?

I saw the score. Always the Penfield fan their two losses so far this year have been to West Islip and West Genny. Both were very competitive games against top shelf lacrosse programs.
