HUGE college lacrosse fan and just stumbled on this forum...

The wind is beginning to blow and administrations will be pushing some into the air.....
What coaches are the next "bright" spots and will find new homes?

-J.L. Reppert, Maryland
-Anthony Gilardi, Towson
-Ryan Wellner, Navy
-Marc Van arsdale, Loyola

Current HC:
-Kevin Cassese, Lehigh
-Dan Chemotti, Richmond
-Dylan Sheridan, Cleveland State

Would add Jon Torpey to the list of current head coaches who might be in line for a bigger job someday soon. He's done great work at HP this year.

In terms of what openings there might be...Harvard has to be looking to move in a new direction soon, don't they?

Great call on Jon Torpey- his time is now.

I didn’t want to speculate on openings (not sure if a forum no no?) hence the focus on new HC or current HC up for new jobs. But since you did- yes I have to believe that’s happening)

Maybe, maybe not. But lets remember, the current HC is an alum, no off field issues, and kids graduate.

Torpey will have opportunities should he want to move on/up from HP.

Assistants that could move on/up:
Wellner - Navy
Toomey - Harvard
Kirwan - Virginia
Ross - Ohio State
Reppert - Maryland
Gilardi - Towson
Toner - Penn St
Van Arsdale - aint goin nowhere
Byrne - aint goin nowhere

Keegan Wilkinson at Marist has done a really good job. 63-44 so far through almost 8 years in Poughkeepsie.

Good list, agree with adding Wilkinson (Marist). I'd also add Jon Basti (Sacred Heart) to/near the top of this list.

I would add Richie Meade to that list. But I would also suggest Athens takes the reigns. Furman should be much better by now.

I believe Wellner loves Navy, everything about the USNA structure, the quality of young men that he works with, etc.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Richie at Harvard? At first blush, strange bedfellows.Lest we forget "Mineola" Meade has coached intelligent, focused gentlemen in his prior life.Is discipline a stumbling point? Frisbie knows Meade quite well.Could be an interesting discussion.

Are you suggesting Richie Meade is a good hire and ready for some where else? Again, new poster here but LONG time lax fan. I believe admins should be steering toward the future, this is a new generation of young men and women. New energy, passion etc.

I would think Furman might be looking to replace them all.

YUP! If you don't think Meade is passionate or energetic,go with him to his DOJO and watch him work out!

There are a lot of good assistants. We are talking about guys that are ready, have experience and have a good track record (ncaa tourney experience etc).
With all
Due respect to Stephen Toomy if Harvard does make a change that’s not a good indication he is ready?
The Hop coaches are ready lol!

Dwan isn't the head coach type. I'd heard that Benson was offered the UMBC job when that was open after Zim left, but turned it down. His name pops up now and again. His offenses, while generally good, have probably been a little too inconsistent to warrant status as a top-tier assistant.

What are the chances Navy is looking for a new leader? And would Wellner be in the mix?
