9-6 now. Hop has their confidence back. No comeback this time. Under 5 minutes left now.

Incredibly--Michigan has come all the way back to tie it at 9. Hop possession after winning the draw and the quickly called timeout. :56 left in the 4th.

A 3-4 goal lead is nothing in Lacrosse. Things can change very very quickly.

Maryland has tied Rutgers at 5 late in the 3rd quarter.

You said it. I had Michigan pronounced dead twice in this game, and yet here we are about to start overtime.

Hop gets possession and calls timeout after an expired shot clock which Michigan squandered half of (for what reason I'll never know). Just non chalantly stood around for 40 seconds or so before the offense even started passing the ball around.

Super Gutsy goal by Bailey Cheetham to win it for Hop in OT.

I have absolutely no faith Rutgers will hold on to this slim 8-7 lead with 6:22 left in the 4th, but then again, these ain't yer granpappy's Terps, and teams ain't afeard to win at College Park anymore. We shall see...

Cassidy Spilis just manhandled that caused turnover from Leubecker. And the Scarlet Knights take a 2 goal lead with less than 3 minutes to go. Then Leubecker makes up for the turnover by scoring less than a minute later. 9-8 Rutgers with less than 2 to go.

Rutgers wins the draw.

Wow--10 bell save by Sophia Cardello with 15 seconds to go. Maryland calls timeout with possession.

Another save--this time with 8 seconds to go. And Rutgers steps on the Turtle to advance to the semifinals.

RU wins. Couldn’t be happier for Spilis. She lives to play another game.

Didn’t end up mattering, but the refs missed MD 40 stepping into the goal circle after her shot that had been saved. Should have been Rutgers ball with 15 seconds to go. Doesn’t matter now.

Thursday, May 2 (Semifinals at Martin Stadium, Evanston, Ill.)

1 p.m. (BTN) Northwestern vs. Johns Hopkins
3:30 p.m. (BTN) Penn St vs. Rutgers

Saturday, May 4 (Championship at Martin Stadium, Evanston, Ill.)

5:30 p.m. (BTN)

Of course I'll be rooting for Penn State so Northwestern can revenge kick the stuffing out of them, but I'm not real confident they have what it takes to get there. You just never know which Penn State team will show up. Rutgers blew a 5-1 lead in their 10-9 OT loss to the Lions at Piscataway back in early March. That might be sufficient to motivate Rutgers to a trip back to the Big 10 final. But no matter--the Wildcats will kick the stuffing out of them too.

Hop and Rutgers did Northwestern a favor by eliminating two of their arch rivals. Just makes the Drive to Nine all the more smooth...

Hop not playing too smart. They just drew their fourth yellow not even one minute into the second quarter. All non-releasable from here. 5-1 Wildcats.

Less than a minute into the 2nd quarter against NU and JHU's Bailey Cheetham has already fouled out. I'm guessing that's gonna hurt the Bluejays.
