Wednesday, April 10

Limestone (#2) hosting Belmont Abbey (#8) --- Stone used to win this one most of the time - until last year, when the Abbey beat the Saints 2X. Abbey wins and they both upset the #1 team in the South at this time, but gain the #1 seed in the Conference Carolinas tourney. Both teams are talented, and have played tough schedules. Saints put their undefeated record on the line...
This one was 9-6 Abbey toward the end of the 3rd quarter after a 3 goal run, but the Saints scored five straight and nine of the last ten goals to win this one going away 15-10. Six goals and a pair of assists for Clark Walter, and 11 forced TOs by the Saints defensively as they just wore down the Crusaders
Pace (#7) hosting Saint Anselm (#20) --- battle for position behind Mack, Phins, and Panthers in NE10...
One goal victory for Pace (16-15) over St. A.
Saint Leo (#12) hosting Florida Southern (RV) --- jockeying for the #3 seed in the SSC.
Mocs lose their third in a row, this time to Leo 23-14
Catawba (#18) hosting Lenoir Rhyne --- do the Indians bounce back after the shellacking in Gaffney? LR has 7 losses but still is dangerous.
Dangerous enough for the 16-15 upset over the Indians...
Assumption (#19) hosting Bentley (RV) --- Assumption has only lost to Leo, Adelphi, and Le Moyne - but this one could be dangerous as well.
Bentley with the 11-8 win in a mild upset...

Saturday, April 13

Adelphi (#1) hosting Le Moyne (#6) --- Not the only big one today, but one of the top two. Can Adelphi stay unbeaten?
Nope - Phins allow 7 straight after a HT score of 8-1, but Panthers cannot finish and go down 10-8. One of the unbeatens no longer...
Mercy (#3) hosting Mercyhurst (#7) --- Mercy had a huge win over Tech, and Hurst lost a close one to Seton Hill - Mavericks are the third team this week to have a high quality opponent against their unbeaten record...
Lakers reduce the rank of unbeatens to just a single team with a 10-2 victory over the Mavericks
Merrimack (#4) hosting Pace (#7) --- Pace lost by 5 to Le Moyne - can they keep up with Mack?
Not looking good for the Setters as they trail 9-3 partway through the 3rd Q.
Queens (#10) hosting Catawba (#18) --- bragging rights in the SAC.
Catawba with a 13-12 victory over Queens at home (second loss for the Royals)...
Lindenwood (#15) at Rockhurst (#16) --- best game in the Midwest today...
Hawks double up the Lions 12-6...

With the updated rankings, one more big game to add this week:

Tampa (#16) hosting Lynn (RV) --- playing for 1st place in the SSC. Lynn has the top scoring defense in the conference (8.4 GA) and the offense is finally hitting its stride...do they have enough to take down Tampa?

Agreed - but Tampa has now won eight straight since their fourth loss of the season to Lindenwood. They earlier had lost to Belmont Abbey, Adelphi and Assumption. All in the eight wins since by large enough margins except for their last win over Rollins, the only ranked team in that group. Lynn certainly has a shot, though.

Phins beat unbeaten Panthers
Catawba give Queens their second loss
Mercyhurst removes in a big way the Mavericks from the ranks of the unbeatens (leaving just Stone)
But Mack having its way with Pace...

Great win by Lynn over Tampa.
