Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison didn't fool around with this case. He got Steve Schleicher to work as chief prosecutor on a
pro bono basis. About a dozen other lawyers worked on this as well. It's like OJ's Dream Team in reverse.
No disrespect intended to anyone, but a 3rd grader could have argued this case and won.

Most Fanlax libs are similarly uninformed.
I, for one, am informed by the wisdom that Petey blesses us with in his posts on here:
1. Gilead is a buy at $84 (closed at $66 today). Remdesivir!
2. Trump is going to crush Biden. Schadenfreude!
3. Biden will never make it to inauguration day.
4. George Floyd's death was unrelated to the cop's knee.
5. The virus is overblown and is going away.
It is quite a record of prognostication.
52 week high is $85! Hopefully Petey made 1.19% on the trade if he hit it just right!
Sounds like some folks are kinda unhappy there’s no rioting and looting tonight. I’ll pass a note to Tucker later on.
Sad.
... the only person unhappy there is no burning or looting tonight is your pathetic ass.
THE LIBS OWN YOU PETEY.

The jury is just virtue signaling.
According to Salty, the jury was coerced into voting guilty.
Afraid of being doxed.
They have nothing to worry about now. They are hometown heroes. I look forward to their books.

Just saw the verdict read out and Chauvin sitting there. I actually felt sorry for him. It didn’t have to go this way. I wonder if he had his hand in his pocket.....

Despite the verdict, we still have absolutely no idea why Chauvin did what he did. We may never get any insight into that mystery.

I'm amazed he did not testify. What did he have to lose. He needed to show regret to the jury.
The jury showed him the same amount of compassion he showed George Floyd.
I have yet to hear one cop say anything on his behalf. Most importantly, no one who served with him.

His past history of racial hate is no secret here in Lake Wobegone. This includes a record of about 15 complaints against him for on the job abuses but the judge refused to make that a matter in the case. By contrast that judge allowed inclusion of Floyd's criminal past - one he has publicly repented of unlike Chauvin.

Henceforth it will be interesting to see what steps cops take to defend themselves from having their criminal activities exposed. The state's # 1 evidence in this case was the video taken by the girl on the sidewalk. Now that criminal cops know that such evidence will be used, will they now confiscate everyone's video cameras and recorders? Will they now delete any recording or destroy the machinery? Intimidate witnesses, plant evidence on their persons or autos, or will they charge witnesses with crimes they never committed in order to keep them from testifying against those crooked cops?
Of course, legislation can be created to prevent all that. But there are too many pro cop, anti people Repukeblicans in this state and that is why we are not likely to get that legislation.

Not being critical, but that is easy to say now that the verdict is in.
If he had testified, I think that would have opened the door to being cross-examined on his prior incidents of misconduct. That would have been the nail in the coffin.

May those prior incidents be considered during sentencing ?
In MN, does the Judge impose sentence or the jury ?
Is there a mandatory sentencing recommendation process which must be followed ?

In Minnesota the judge imposes the sentence subject to state law sentencing guidelines with those guidelines supposedly serving as the will of the people. I believe the judge has the discretion to use (or not use) the crooked cop's past evils. But I do not believe Chauvin was convicted for past offenses so it may likely be held inconsequential as a factor in sentencing.

The next step is for the parties to brief whether or not there are aggravating factors to be considered in sentencing. Chauvin waived the right to have the jury decide that issue and, instead, has agreed to let the judge decide (probably a smart decision).
Think the judge said briefs are due in a week, and he'll decide a week after that. Then I think they do a pre-sentencing report, which is pretty standard nation-wide. I don't know all of the particulars that go into that.
The judge's decision on aggravating factors will be huge for Chauvin. If he decides there were aggravating factors, that would seem to me to be a pretty clear signal he is going to come down hard on Chauvin. If he doesn't find those factors exist, then maybe he won't.

I admit up front that I had not paid as much attention to this murder case as many of you people did. I saw enough of that disgusting video to make up my mind a long time ago. Before they read the verdict last night one of the media talking heads reported on something I was not aware of. The paramedics showed up and finding no pulse told the murdering cop to "get off of him" they pretty much informed the murdering cop the man was already dead. What does the murdering cop do... keeps his knee on his neck for several more minutes. I will never understand what was going through the murdering cops mind, not that that matters. I'm guessing had he allowed the paramedics at that time to do their jobs and take his knee of of his neck he might have been acquitted or been charged with a lesser crime.
For goodness sake he kept a dead man pinned to the ground. My wife, who is normally the most rational person I know went on a mini rampage when she heard this. She was mad when i informed her the murdering cop will be protected and isolated during his soon to be lengthy time in prison. When she said why??? I did not have a good answer. In general population in prison the murdering cop would not live for 10 minutes. We will protect him because as Americans we are better people. As a law enforcement officer that is what we expected of this cop. IMO the saddest thing the murdering cop did... he disgraced the reputation of every good and dedicated police officer in this country. GO TO HELL MR MURDERING COP... GO TO HELL

Will be interesting to see the race baiters try to stir up the Columbus Ohio shooting yesterday. Young girl was in the act of killing another young girl, so the cop shot her.
So, if someone hates police enough, they’ll need to take the position that street murder is preferable to a policeman stopping it. Big dilemma for TLD, Brook, DocB, MD, seacoaster, njbill!!!!

I only saw a short clip this morning of the police shooting of the young girl. Apparently she was attempting to stab another young girl.
The big problem for all police officers is how they now handle dangerous situations going forward.

Dunno.
When you find that one out, also ask what’s the use of lethal force policy for citizens stabbing other citizens. Allowable or nah? I think it’s good in Baltimore but not sure about Columbus.
Thx.
