An investigation by the FBI should focus on the other people involved in this circus...Ford and BK have made their statements. The left will vote against him.....for the same reasons they had before any of this other crap came up.

Mark Judge is pivotal to the Swetnik allegations. Ted Cruz apparently thinks Alcoholism exemptions exist but the Fbi talks to everyone with knowledge.

I would be quite surprised if Mark judge agrees to talk to the FBI, but we shall see.

Manchin is supporting the delay for the FBI investigation to be conducted.

This seems to paint the Left into a corner, they have ALL expressed the need for an FBI investigation, it appears it is going to happen. IF and a big IF, it comes back with no new corroborating evidence, nothing to support either committed perjury, the left will likely all still vote NO BUT BK's votes will likely be higher, making this an even more political divide...which in the end is all it currently is. Nothing changes.

BUT if the FBI comes back with a smoking gun.....the dump is gonna hit the fan for the right. BK is playing with fire if he has a skeleton in the closet, his calendar may very well do him in.....we'll see how the GP fellaz truly do take care of each other. The rights saving grace is Mitchell, since she even said there was nothing to support the case forward.

You mean how do they voted on confirmation? If they know what's good for them, it's a big fat no. Voting for Kav would be calling Dr. Ford a liar in the eyes of 100% of liberals.

Every lib I know is livid. Question is: with the election in six weeks, does this spike D voter turnout? If it does, look out Republican party.

I think most "liberals" already believe that Bart O'K -- abuser or not, drunk or not -- is a rank political partisan who doesn't belong on the Court. The "performance" yesterday made the "no" easy. Again, it is what the folks who occupy the center (whatever the heck that is) think that will tell in the midterms.

If Kavanaugh is not confirmed or the nomination is withdrawn the "dems" get to choose? Is that how it works?

The candidate has spoken. You men need to get your wives, daughters and especially GRANDDAUGHTERS (I do indeed remember) into lockstep. We desperately need such a cool, calm and collected, the Godlike person added to the Supreme Swamp. Donny, Hannity, Huck, and Miller will be forever(literally), grateful.

Justice Kagan, during a talk at UCLA Law School yesterday, and after declining to comment on the day’s events in Washington, said this:

“The court’s strength as an institution of American governance depends on people believing it has a certain kind of legitimacy–on people believing it’s not simply just an extension of politics, that its decision making has a kind of integrity to it. If people don’t believe that, they have no reason to accept what the court does.”

And so…Brett?

Judge’s ex-girlfriend is a font of tearful confessions made by young Mark. Behind the WP paywall.

Trump voiced his support for an investigation as well.

What do folks think about that? With that being what seems to be a reasonable Trump.... :o

It is the right thing to do. Should have been done two weeks ago.

I think once Mitch understood that part of his caucus (Murkowski, Flake, Collins, perhaps others) was going to insist on the investigation before they voted the matter on the floor, the President fell into line. Chris Wray is shifting around some personnel this afternoon.

the beauty of the FBI investigation is that it is a win/win for the R's, if negative - it will give the R's the ammunition they need to throw BK under the bus and not piss off the zealots in their base....

but they accepted the dems insistence in the self-inflicted wound of the circus of yesterday to make the dems look bad heading into the midterms, it also pacified the R base....

Well....they could also find stuff that just muddies the waters, making things more complicated for Republican voters and the nation as a whole.

Yea, lets hope they find out Feinstein leaked Dr.Fords letter and had the time bomb set to detonate just before the vote. ;)

In which case each party declares victory, Kav gets confirmed, and the politicians continue to rip our country in half for fun and profit...
