Rubio Supporter Savagely Beaten While Canvassing in Florida

By ARI BLAFF, October 24, 2022 2:29 PM

A man wearing a t-shirt supporting Senator Marco Rubio was brutally attacked in Hialeah, Fla., Sunday night because he was in the neighborhood canvassing on behalf of a Republican, the senator tweeted Monday.

According to Rubio’s tweet, the man suffered internal bleeding as well as a broken jaw and “will need reconstructive surgery.” The unidentified man was also reportedly wearing a hat supportive of Florida governor Ron DeSantis.

The local police department confirmed Monday afternoon that an unnamed 27-year-old victim was assaulted while handing out fliers but, according to police, there was only one attacker.

The victim was told by his attacker not to distribute the flyers. When he tried to walk away, the attacker, Javier Lopez, 25, followed him, and began striking him repeatedly in the head and face, Hialeah Sgt. Jose Torres noted to the Miami Herald in an email.

Rubio addressed the attack at a Monday rally held to mark the start of early voting in Florida.

“Sadly, we get the news and we’re still waiting for details. It’s always important to have details. We’re not like these other people that always jump to conclusions, but we know this: Someone wearing a Rubio T-Shirt and a DeSantis hat was walking in a neighborhood not far from here yesterday when four individuals assaulted him, broke his nose, broke his jaw,” Rubio told the crowd.

The comedienne Kathy Griffin responded to Rubio’s tweet by saying: “You have lied too much over the years for us to believe you now.” In 2017, Griffin participated in a photo shoot with a beheaded and bloodied mannequin of Trump.

Since the Supreme Court’s summer ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, conservative people and organizations across the country have been repeatedly targeted for vandalism, harassment, and outright assault.

Despite nearly 50 incidents of vandalism, including firebombings, at pregnancy centers across the country since June, the FBI has not arrested a single perpetrator.

The FBI announced it planned to treat such violence “as acts of domestic violent terrorism” following the spate of attacks and the urgings of over 124 Republican Members of Congress.

Well, I never said anything like that. I think the point you miss -- the one you always, always miss -- is that Rubio has a white supremacist who appeared in Charlottesville with "a lot of very nice people," canvassing for him. One wonders how the incident actually got started. What? Not waiting for the facts OS? Understood; when they appear to fit your malignant narrative, factual elucidation isn't, you know, so important.
Calling him a White Supremacist is offensive. All kinds of people believe they are supreme in some way. Just like White Nationalists. Why wouldn’t we want them in the military?

Not arguing with you, but before you go off the deep end....
Ballot Drop boxes do have surveillance laws that must be abided by. In Georgia for instance:

The opening slot of a drop box shall not allow ballots to be tampered with or removed and shall be designed to minimize the ability for liquid or other substances that may damage ballots to be poured into the drop box. A drop box shall be labeled "OFFICIAL ABSENTEE BALLOT DROP BOX" and shall clearly display the signage developed by the Secretary of State pertaining to Georgia law with regard to who is allowed to return absentee ballots and destroying, defacing, or delaying delivery of ballots. The drop box location shall have adequate lighting and be under constant surveillance by an election official or his or her designee, law enforcement official, or licensed security guard.

https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections ... umber.aspx
I don't understand-----is it your impression that these are election officials, or local police?
Arizona and federal officials seem to think they are cases of intimidation. Apparently 6 such incidents in Arizona so far. Have also heard this type of activity is occurring in Colorado as well as Nevada.
Oh, I was just asking YA, in case he didn't read the actual stories.....yes, it's CLEARLY intimidation. But in their fevered minds, they think they're intimidating "voter mules" that they read about on the internet. Naturally, the people dropping off ballots don't share their assessment.
Correct...I could not find the link or images to which you were referring, honestly did not look back through the pages far enough I guess. But I have heard that Ballot Drop Boxes are required to have 24 hour surveillance, in some states...meaning guards of some fashion and/or video. I looked up Colorado law and it does not require either.

I have not watched 20k Mules, but have heard all the talking points about cell data traffic that they have obtained through FOIA (I believe), which indicates suspicious activity by many of the same cellphone pings in close proximity to ballot drop boxes that occur regularly...then seemingly go away after the voting is over. Based on commentary, the democrats downplay it, saying cell phone data can not be used with accuracy for these purposes...BUT it strangely it can be used for things like 6JAN, for tracking down criminals in all other circumstances except voting drop boxes.

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother reading news, we are always left trying to figure out the 3rd side to every story. I suppose we should all just listen to MDLAX and TLD, they seem to know everything. ;)
Re Colorado (not my state) this certainly appears to suggest that there are surveillance cameras on all drop boxes in Colorado. Dunno if required by law, but certainly sound practice, right? https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/d ... oxes-vote/

They also go through quite a process of maintaining bi=partisan chain of custody and all sorts of rigorous process to verify its a properly executed ballot from a verified voter with no duplicates.

ggait, who is from Colorado, has written about all this.
Because it’s so important to have video of the person putting the absentee voter envelope into the ballot drop box - as opposed to not having surveillance on every USPS corner mailbox or rural mailbox by the street its little red flag up.

Must be something magical about the postage stamp.
Indeed ridiculous, though I think the concern is to address the potential stealing ballots en masse out of a drop box and replacing them with others...of course, that would be identified other ways...but I don't have an issue with surveillance cameras as a deterrent. Surveillance cameras aren't a big deal/prohibitively expensive to have I wouldn't think.

Guess shortly before the DC jails were taken over by the feds because a corrections officer at the jail was set on fire. Heard a few DC stories when I lived there which had me wondering what the heck was going on in that town.

You might well have microcells inside the capitol complex in order that all locations inside have signals. That would allow a better location. Also, while you might be talking to a single tower at a time with a phone, the communication process is always trying to find out which cell tower has the best signal, so you can use some of that data if saved to get a somewhat more precise location - but not down necessarily to within yards...

The maps don't download in realtime, they are stored on disk card. I like having local control. Phone OS is Android that is open source. Bluetooth off by default, same for WiFi.

I’m an Apple jerk. Do keep wifi on about half the time to manage battery life when in a known place like home. But Bluetooth and location only as needed manual setting. I’m ok increasingly being a Luddite.

jhu72 - good for you to be that disciplined about your technology, just understand that it is even more complex than what is in your control. Your phone has a MAC address and anytime it is powered on ( and as Snwoden said....who knows if its even 'really' off) it is pinging a tower(s).

This is worth a watch, there are plenty more technical videos out there, but this this gives a quick overview

... My above precautions are designed to thwart any run of the mill / common techno thief. When you are out and about. It also has the advantage of not needing a cell phone connection for your mapping application to work when you are outside of cell range (large swaths of West Virginia). Also saves massive amount of battery power.

When on the run from authorities the phone is trashed, buy a burner and keep it in a shielded bag. Use it no more than a few times, trash it and buy a new burner :)

Only because pay phones don’t exist anymore. That model adopted by Avon and Stringer worked just fine for years.

But, but, I thought they were implanting tracking chips in all of us with the vaxx?

What those dolts don't know is that they are assiduously carrying, charging, and funding their own personal tracking beacons.

How do these idiots make it through a day?
