Apparently he's ticked off over reports on Twitter by these folks that the social media company had suspended the account of an emerging competitive social media service, Mastodon, which has allowed the continued posting of @ElonJet, an account that posts the updated location of Musk’s private jet.

Not for nothing but his jet location and flight plans are PUBLIC information. Just more fuax outrage horseschidt from Musk who is doing exactly what he used to b*tch about on Twitter.

A quick search this morning found a bit more than the MSM was willing to share....it seems to cut far deeper than his Jet. Maybe it's the crazies following the medias escalation of the new divisive topic du jour. I' sure you'd invite the person over for dinner that was following you or your kid around based on SM sending out doxxing smoke signals. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/160 ... 1iiDXAws5w

sure, and Musk filmed the guy and posted the film. Call the police too, Elon.

But he blocked the accounts of journalists who reported that he'd blocked Mastodon's account because they wouldn't block the people posting Musk's private jet's location, itself publicly available information.

Free speech for Elon, but...
Sounds like he did go the legal route.....but you seems to know he didn't, how'd you know he didn't? Oh....that's right, MD knows everything, just ask him. ;)

You do know the kid was reposting publicly available flight info that the public already has access to? Not following Musk around or posting Musk's actual location, just what his jet is up to? That's free speech baby! The kind of stuff Musk and people on here were screaming about being censored prior to the purchase.

What's the "legal" route?
Did he call the police? I don't know, do you?

Or does this mean that Musk called one of his Tesla or SpaceX lawyers (he fired Twitter's) and asked whether he could sue the guy?

Bottomline, Musk is quashing free speech he doesn't like, but not speech he does, regardless of how much it threatens the safety and well-being of others.

Just want that reality acknowledged.

There is a reason that bad publicity is just as important as good publicity. I'm sure Elon is almost traumatized by all of the bad press. He probably is having a hard time sleeping at night. My guess is Musk does not give 2 figs about what anybody thinks about him. When your as wealthy as he is... why should you care?

Elon Musk is under no obligation to tolerate any Twitter account that posts assassination coordinates of him or his family, which is exactly what the ElonJet account ended up doing. That goes also for any Twitter account that then promoted the ElonJet Facebook account (all of the suspended accounts did this). The 'journalist' suspension issue is not about free speech, but about doxxing and threats. That said, it's heartening to see that those who previously cheered the obliteration of free speech, have suddenly found an appreciation of it this morning...

Most of the accounts suspended of reporters were not doxxing anyone. In maybe a couple of cases being critical of Elon for suspending the elonjet account, or telling users how to access the Mastodon account for that user. But mostly tech reporters being critical of Musk in general.

Posting the flight path/airport where a particular jet happens to be is not enough information to give "assassination coordinates" anyway. Especially since that information is publicly available.

Musk and a whole lot of other exceedingly rich people think they should be able to shield their location when they want to, but flight information is public because it is important to the safety of running the air traffic system.

Musk is engaging in removing accounts critical of him just because he can. Since Twitter is a private company he certainly can do what he pleases with it, but by doing the exact opposite of what he initially promised (make it a true free speech forum) and arbitrarily changing rules to make it look like he is "protecting" people (himself really) he is doing a great job of running the ad revenue side of the business into the ground.

Elon can do whatever he wants. He paid good money for twitter.

But I think elonjet only became a thing after Elon loudly announced he wouldn’t ban it. As proof of his commitment to free speech.

So isn’t this kerfuffle an Elon own goal?

Actually, the whole twitter thing seems like an own goal. Agrees to buy it for a dumb high price. Then claims he’s been defrauded (false) and tries to back out. Then buys it for the original high price once it becomes clear he’s gonna get hammered in the de chancery court.

“Assassination coordinates”?

Publicizing Musk’s location is not a crime. A physical or verbal threat may be. But I haven’t seen that he has accused anyone of that. If he thinks a crime has been committed, then report it to the authorities. By the way, doesn’t this guy have his own security guards?

If he has proof that someone is threatening the physical safety of him or his family, let’s see it. Otherwise, he is simply acting like a garden-variety B level celebrity who doesn’t like getting chased by the paparazzi. Boo-hoo.

It is obvious what he is doing. He is conflating reports of his whereabouts with physical attacks on him and his many different families. Not the same thing. If one leads to the other, then report it. Otherwise, STFU.

I’m certainly no expert in the economics of Twitter, but the signs (loss of advertisers, collateral calls by lenders) don’t seem to portend a bright future for Twitter.

Also these new posters and others are ignoring that we're not busting him for his independent business choices. If he had been tight lipped and came in and made all these changes, cool.

We're dressing him down because he's been nothing but a a-hole hypocrite surrounding his actions.

Claiming he loves free speech and isn't going to ban people, then does a 180 and bans them. That's the issue at hand. We're just calling out the Bullscheisse. You can argue about whether posting publicly available airplane routes is "doxxing" or "threats" till you're blue in the face. I'm just gonna laugh at you because Musk was all about that freedom of speech and not censoring that info. And you all swallowed that hook, line, sinker, rod, reel and fisherman.

It's been amazing entertainment watching the contortions.

We also told you this was going to happen.

Twitter threatened with EU sanctions over journalists' ban

Matt Binder, a journalist for Mashable and one of those suspended, said he didn't know why he had been banned.

"I've been very critical of Musk in my reporting," he told the BBC. But he said that Mr Musk's claim "that everyone that got suspended was doxxing him - due to the jet tracker", was not true.

He said he had never tweeted a hyperlink to the tracker, but had mentioned the account after it had been suspended.

"Clearly the people who were suspended were handpicked, because there are literally hundreds of accounts per minute who tweeted the link."

Does Petey have yet another new alias now?
Boycott stupid. If you ignore the gator troll, eventually he'll just go back under his bridge.

You forgot not paying Twitter office leases.
