BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Due to a positive COVID-19 test from the Tier 1 testing pool of Loyola University Maryland men's lacrosse team, the Greyhounds will withdraw from the Patriot League Championship Game out of an abundance of caution due to health and safety protocols.
After an 11-10 win over the U.S. Military Academy on Friday night, Loyola was due to play Lehigh University in the Championship Game on Sunday, May 9. By virtue of the no-contest, Lehigh will be the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship.
Dont know for sure, but if they were invited, could they field a team? Isnt close contact (worst case) a 7 or 10 day wait period? Who knows if it is limited to one player, but I would guess there has to be contact issues with other players.laxbro11 wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:21 amTopShelf585 wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:17 amWow did you see what Loyola posted on their website- seems that Lehigh is the 2021 National Champion now!

Hottest team in lacrosse right now, will have to wait to see if they get an at large bid
My guess is no. They were a bubble team if they lost but I think this ends their chances. Unfortunate.laxbro11 wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:21 amTopShelf585 wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:17 amWow did you see what Loyola posted on their website- seems that Lehigh is the 2021 National Champion now!

Loyola will evaluate its ability to be availability for NCAA Championships competition.
It ain't till we say it's over!!GreyingHound wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:03 am Tragic way for the season to end, especially the way the team turned things around and all the momentum they had.
I know I am pretty bummed. I can't imagine how the players must be feeling.
I'm actually less worried about getting a bid than our ability to field a team in 6 days. The Hounds have a strong resume vs. fellow bubble teams, but with the whole team staying in a hotel all weekend and taking the bus rides together, I don't see how they avoid quarantining most of the team.NovaHound wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:57 amIt ain't till we say it's over!!GreyingHound wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:03 am Tragic way for the season to end, especially the way the team turned things around and all the momentum they had.

Hounds are hottest team in NCAA Mens lacrosse right now. And two words why they get a bid - "Charlie" and "Toomey"
Bank on it!!!
Don’t worry about it. It’s out of our control. Staff will figure it out.GreyingHound wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 11:46 amI'm actually less worried about getting a bid than our ability to field a team in 6 days. This article covers some of the considerations: https://www.uslaxmagazine.com/college/m ... ivC99jA5oc
Was the decision not to play made by coaches? AD? Patriot league? Seems extreme for one person testing positive. If that is the case they short changed the team. Short sighted and not following cdc guidelines.NovaHound wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 11:52 amDon’t worry about it. It’s out of our control. should've used the who tests.
Well the trolls on Reddit are about as accurate as the big boys, and they don't have a paywall.
