IMO Towson is to high up on this list. Dulaney beat them. Catonsville is good but probably #10 is a better spot. Hereford will probably crush Towson this week.
Here is the VSN Baltimore Area poll. They seem to do a pretty good job. The Sun does a good job, but only updates once a month.
This one looks better. I know Severn just beat BL, but I think that was a fluke. Spalding is stronger than Severn.JPAtlantic wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 2:34 pmHere is the VSN Baltimore Area poll. They seem to do a pretty good job. The Sun does a good job, but only updates once a month.
1. ST. MARY’S
2. BOYS’ LATIN SCHOOL
3. SEVERN SCHOOL
4. ARCHBISHOP SPALDING
5. CALVERT HALL COLLEGE
6. MCDONOGH SCHOOL
7. LOYOLA BLAKEFIELD
8. SEVERNA PARK
9. ST. PAUL’S SCHOOL
10. BROADNECK
11. GILMAN SCHOOL
12. CATONSVILLE
13. HEREFORD
14. MOUNT HEBRON
15. FALLSTON
16. TOWSON
17. JOHN CARROLL SCHOOL
18. GLENELG
19. MARRIOTTS RIDGE
20. ARCHBISHOP CURLEY
I agree Kent Island should be ranked.
MSJ and Dulaney should also be ranked. MSJ came within 2 of St. Marys and Dulaney took Hereford and Towson to overtime.
Tend to agree with your thoughts. Spalding might turn out to eb the better team, but in the past week, Severn beat BL, and Spalding lost to them. IMO, it's hard to rank any of the public schools in the top 10 when they have zero signature wins this late in the season.Jumbo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 4:55 pmThis one looks better. I would put Kent Island somewhere in the 12-14 range. Drop Marriott’s ridge and Curley. Add MSJ and South River as 19 and 20
Severna Park plans Landon today. Should be a good one.Jumbo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 3:01 pm I agree. SP is the top public school until someone beats them. Maybe a 10 spot for them. broadneck is the only public team to give them a fight. Yes, Sherwood did also, but Sherwood lost the only goal scorer, and they are having trouble with weaker teams this season.
I don’t think it will be that close. SP should win this by 5 or 6JPAtlantic wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 3:06 pmSeverna Park plans Landon today. I think top level public schools are comparable to the bottom half of the MIAA-A.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 9:07 pm I’m not too surprised. SP is a talented team, but I don’t think these public teams are made for as much of a grind and don’t see the variety of schemes that these private schools throw at them.
100% agree. I don’t think it does either team good. SP will play northeast tomorrow and probably win by 15 with backups playing most of the game.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 9:33 pm Talent wise they are the probably close. But prep-wise it’s very different.
I think the harder league grind generally gives these privates the edge in h2h matchups. It’s a consistent level of expectation and competition. These privates are used to being in tough/tight games against insanely talented teams twice a week, and seeing vastly different schemes.
Public schools just don’t get that challenge twice a week. Even a team as talented as SP has to play teams like Annapolis, Glenelg and Crofton, among others. It seems trivial, but I think it matters in the long run.

Think Broadneck is better the Severna Park. Find out soon.
Not really. Landon was ranked 10 spots ahead of Sevrna Park according to the FanLax Computer Rankings. Literally not a single upset yesterday. Unless you call the Sparrows Point forfeit W an upset. Yesterday's 25 Best Games (in order) below. Again, all the favorites won.
