Hmm, now that's an interesting question.

For roughly the same tuition and lacrosse prominence, JHU is a better academic school. Although Baltimore gets dumped on, I'd say it has a preferable location and Maryland has a more temperate climate than upstate NY.

Syracuse has a little more success on the field recently, may have a perceived funner way of playing, and may have an edge in student perception of a fun school and has more big-time sports teams.

I wouldn't say Hopkins is a much more difficult place to recruit students to than Syracuse.
Obviously Hopkins is a better academic school and to some degree that limits your pool; but Petro had no problem whatsoever getting in whoever he wanted.

I think there are several factors that make Cuse a tougher place to recruit than Hopkins and other elite schools - weather, not as good academically as some of the ACC's or Hopkins, and they haven't won as much lately to appeal in the "just come here to hone your craft and win" pitch Maryland has - but also a lot of that is probably just Desko being straight up bad at recruiting at then. How Gait recruits will tell us more

Xanders takes a lot of heat here but he could make 2x as much and work 1/30 as hard following the career path most of his generation in sports writing has tried as draftniks or some bs like that. He btw regularly dms me to tell me he does not like me. This is your forum and I don't want to continue to be a part of it, but the day that petro signed w/cuse both rabil and harrison-people who bleed a little blue and black tweeted really nice things about their response had petro/gait been recruiting them to cuse. Your program will be the number 1 covered, discussed program next fall, probably garner a ton of non lacrosse media coverage, your alumni I'm sure are already pouring in support, your stadium and road games will be juiced (pun)with fans, and ratings will be strong all of which will help get things going for these guys. I think your question will be which petro defenses you get next spring and whether he can address the myriad issues that led to his downfall at homewood.

A continued false narrative. Ask Petro how it went with Rambo and Heacock. The idea that he could get anyone into Hopkins is complete BS.

Weather wasn't an issue when they went to 22 straight FFs  The Dome is a huge draw, the indoor fieldhouse is awesome and GG just got a fat donation to construct new locker rooms. Last I checked the #1 recruit for '22 is committed and #2 may soon follow? What about Dwan's kid? This was BEFORE Gait & Petro...with new energy being injected, the recruiting boat will fill up quickly!

Petro had a more difficult tine with this issue after the administration change. As a reminder cuse couldn’t get the Thompsons in so they went to Albany.

What's the over/under on how long it will be before the announcement of the Pietramala brothers flipping from Carolina?

I believe... Petro had a more difficult time with not being able to get athletes into JHU after the administration change. As a reminder, Syracuse couldn’t get the Thompsons into Syracuse with their imperfect grades/SAT scores/etc. so instead they went to Albany.

I think he is saying that petro can recruit a bit more unconstrained at cuse, which may help his mojo.

It’s all the same. Hopkins does have some limitations with admissions. On the same hand there will be families that feel Syracuse simply isn’t good enough academically. He’ll do just fine recruiting the top kids that are interested.

Is it possible that SU hired Petro so they could humiliate him? Like, on the sidelines, they'll let him do his job but he'll have to wear the Otto the Orange outfit. Stuff like that. I don't think SU hired him to do this but do you think it's possible?

if planet Earth was to put together a lacrosse coaching staff for the Galactic Championship

Head Coach Gary Gait
DC Dave Pietramala

would be on that shortlist

Petro has lost 60 lbs in last 8 weeks

Gary wants to bring back the excitement to the Dome, he wants 20K+ crowds
