It was quick. Any adult rolling in here should be prepared, my smarter self didn’t when I was using LP. To pack up and leave lock stock when he chose to roll in and start engaging to only not like what he heard isn’t the fault of others though.

At some point folks need to start acting with agency. All I see is a lot of people blaming others and little inward reflection.

Hate missing the lacrosse side but he came in like the shooter who murdered a bunch of kids including my cousin in Seattle in 2006 then when the police showed up ate his gun rather than facing the consequences of his actions.

I was just telling someone about this offline which had it front of mind but it’s a decent parallel to what went down there.

You know how schools will let students take over the school twitter account for a day. Fanlax should do this with the Website and Forum. Let a different person have control of the website and forum for a week. Then a different person. Then a different, etc. The only restriction being (1) you cannot delete a users forum account and (2) you cannot post purely political posts on the website homepage. The homepage post needs to have some connection to lacrosse.

Probably going to have some rules about thirsty dads in their early 40s with young children unless you want the forums to turn into the Red Shoe Diaries the day I get to run it...

I’m excellent at skating the line.

Is Robert Gucciones version of Caligula, particularly the sister and helper scene Considered porn? (which I never realized until JHU72 clued me in here is Helen Mirren! Only knew as a teenager watching it, possibly more than once, about Malcolm McDowell as I had seen Clockwork when I was like ten and my dad liked to explain how he had turned into an alcoholic and needed the paycheck). My father was born in 1941 and had me late in life but loved to explain background and context for things from his perspective which is weird but I learned a lot of odd stuff between him and my crazy 12yr older sister who has me reading basketball diaries and the stranger as a 6th grader.

Started out referencing Kurt Vonnegut but changed it a yea roe two in after as a 20 something got pissed at a really rude of intelligent Cornell fan who pissed me off and it became this one or very close to it. Briefly had an interim one as snowbart but that’s por a taste given my life in the intervening years...

See I’m lot afraid of a little truth.

I'm not looking for anyone's help, I can leave the party if I don't like it. Their house, their party, the can run it whatever way they want. Will ask again, how many people are sticking around the party? Lot of empty hangers in that coat room that used to have coats on 'em. Jus' sayin'.
At least those regularly participating in these particular discussion threads...And that's the point.

How can the "party" be improved?
Or will the jerks cause folks who want to have a good time without getting puked on decide to leave?

Again, we asked for a light moderation hand...but for folks to be respectful in their discourse, else take it to Hamsterdam which has virtually no rules.

And lo and behold, Hamsterdam gets almost no usage...but over time the discourse on this part of the site has become increasingly more rancorous and less inviting to those who don't want to get puked on. So, it seems to need some adjustment.

If that occurs, and works, hopefully the Admin will be able to reach out to those who had departed and invite them to participate again.
Pretty interesting, MDlax, yup next to no activity at Hamsterdam. Now that it's been mentioned a few times, I think it's probably right that the Trump effect can be seen here. There is little to no tolerance for one's opinion when it's not in line with another's and it very quickly goes the childish, name calling, rudeness that Trump made the norm. You know as well as I do there used to be interesting discussions despite differences in the past and there was a damn good group of people who hung around these parts. Yes, when it got a little out of hand the person whose name can't even be mentioned here would do what he thought needed to be done to clean the show up a bit and some didn't take too kindly to that. This isn't a matter of admin keeping the place respectable though, that's up to the posters. Again, you know the tone here is nothing like it was in the past. Yes, I can fly off the handle and be an aszwhole, but more often than not I can also come back and be respectful and continue on with a sense of decency with the person I had a disagreement with. Now the continuation of name calling and just beating one another up is the norm. The number of participants here at the Water Cooler speaks for itself. HooDat, The Chairman, a fan, and a boatload of other good contributors are still around but they don't come here to play anymore. I don't wonder why they don't.

Have you gone back to the Cuse thread yet after that Scanlon stuff? After my 5th or 6th defense of you I’m thinking “man he’s an adult and can handle himself why am I speaking for him” even though I felt their response was over the top to you. Might disagree with the little girl has a temper post (and more importantly I think you misread the story you posted because I read it that Scanlon made the dent in the wall not the girl just that it want from her body hitting the wall, you suggested she put the hole in the wall) but the reaction was insane.

Sure, I've gone back and thanks for the support. I never said that the girl put the hole in the wall, what I said is that Fitzpatrick (the DA) said the picture that was plastered all over the place, and from which many already convicted Scanlan, had nothing to do with the incident and was there before any of this happened. Yes, I said little girl which of course can be blown into a big deal when it really isn't at all. It's not so hard to imagine that she has a bit of a temper either, particularly when she includes in her police report that she's been the first to throw punches on more than one occasion but of course to some that shouldn't be mentioned. Oh well.

Good since that’s your primary “home” here.

Didn’t mean to rehash it just pointing to how crazy in has gotten on the lax side too. the reaction was over the top. She clearly has issues too speaking as someone who’s never touched his own wife but been hit in the face numerous times and seen both kids accidentally hit by flying objects thrown by the wife. Doesn’t let Chase off the hook it just appears to be a toxic relationship and both have issues they should address for their futures.

Every time I’m buried at my outside office or on the road I think about this and feel sad for my kids. Like all the time these days.
