The defensive coach just removed Stanford from her twitter handle.

I think she was largely ineffective but don't know the circumstances around her departure.
All coaches are still listed on the website.
Both coordinators are no longer with the program.
Wow! They have gone through a ton of coaches in this program recently.

Who is going to want to work there with the revolving door of coaches?

Nobody wants to work there. That’s the problem. Going to have to overpay someone, to put up with that coaching culture. Settled on a newly graduated player to head your offense this year. That didn’t work. So…… player-coach next year? What a wasted year for the Cardinal players.

Stanford's leading point scorer for the last 2 years enters the portal.

Both assistant coaches leave at the end of the season. The assistants met with some players privately and had an eye opening conversation about their experience. NDA's may useful in the future.

That makes 5 Assistant coaches in the last 4 years that have left. Who wants to take an assistant coaching job where they usually quit/leave after a year or so? Combine that with the high cost of living in Palo Alto. Maybe she will get 2 fresh graduates with zero or limited experience.

DS tries to recall the team back to practice after a disastrous Pac 12 tournament after the season ends. It just made many players unhappy that they have to start up again after a brief respite.

DS again is cutting everyone's summer short to bring them back to campus early to start practice.

Anyone want to buy 30+ sets of lightly used women's box gear?

DS sounds like every one of Belichick’s former assistants. They try to implement the Patriot way and then realize 1. You ain’t Bill….and 2. You don’t have Tom.

Someone tell DS…you ain’t Kelly.

Wow, lots to comment on here.

Recruiting: there are LOTS of "Toms" on the roster. One just executed a perfect strategy to get a degree from one the best schools in the country at a significantly reduced rate and is outta there. Kudos.

Coaching staff: There was a new college grad on the staff in 2023, so the plan to "get some new grads" on staff seems to have been attempted and failed. There may still be an ongoing lawsuit filed by a former assistant coach. Bad juju.

Coaching style: I wish I could agree that DS is trying to emulate KAH. KAH likes athletic kids, sure, but DS's "coaching" style is to expect her players to play the way SHE played ... but not every player has a 6" and 50 pound size advantage on their opponents. Tough ask.

Three components go into being a successful coach (short version):

1) Xs and Os : tactics, fundamentals, game day, etc.
2) Emotional: Build respect with the players for their teammates, coaching staff, and the program. Be a leader.
3) Administrative: Understand time management, budgeting etc., cooperate within the department and with your peers as a professional

IMHO the current Stanford coach is remedial in all of the above. But other than that, she's terrific ;)

The KAH Tree might wow at first but then the dust settles and those programs are really just treading water.

This is so true. I don't know enough about the situation way out west, but you sure nailed the pathetic Belicheat coaching tree. Most are abysmal failures.
