Ouch.

Last year it was too few players.

Does anyone have thoughts on the Skidmore win ? I saw some of the game and Sage was not very competitive but Skidmore did look to have a few promising young players.

Any win for Skidmore is good for them and the kids. They field a team every year and honor their
schedule and commitments. Bard however should fold from LL lacrosse.

SLU and Potsdam played last night. They were scheduled for this Saturday and decided it was better to play now then in 3 ft of snow.

Saints 20-5.

Fortunately Burns and Gannon are back too. SLU defense generally is pretty strong. Most of last years offense is back too. They did go 14-4 and were competitive vs RIT. I am cautiously optimistic about this year.
The problem again with SLU is a weak OOC schedule. It's nice to see them in the Mustang Classic playing Lynchburg and RIT. The problem is that a Saturday game freed up by the RIT game is essentially replaced with Babson. Playing SUNY Potsdam on a Saturday at the end of February is a waste. That game needs to be a mid-week game.

I understand that it is tough to get teams to travel to the Canton. Sometimes you have to take the show on the road and there are two Saturdays that could be filled with better competition. Maybe meet teams half way at a neutral site.

SLU puts out a solid team every season but the schedule will inevitably sell them short.

Babson beat Bates today so you can add another solid team to their ooc schedule.

St. Lawrence is a beacon of light in the LL as is RIT, RPI, and Union

Sage is a 2nd year program and didn't offer much resistance. We will get a better idea about Skid this weekend against Plattsburg

RIT, Union and SLU had strong debuts. Union seems to have answered their goalie question yesterday- 14 saves and 1 goal allowed.

Ithaca bounced back against Lycoming. They had a terrible first quarter against SJF but have otherwise played well.

Clarkson put up a ton of points.

RPI squeaked past Scranton lost to Coast Guard. Their issues on D seem to be real.

Vassar dropping one to Montclair State was surprising as well.

Ithaca with a one goal loss at Geneseo, 11-12. Ithaca went 7 for 26 on faceoffs, yet still had a chance at the end. Now around 30% on the season at the X. If they don’t clean that up fast, it will be a tough go in conference play.

RIT, SLU and Union looking strong to start the season.

With Cabrini and Tufts on deck, it'll be a tough go well before they hit conference play.

Gotta give IC credit for scheduling this OOC lineup. I was hoping the Bombers didn’t bite off more than they could chew let’s hope they go on a roll.

SLU beat Cortland 10-5. The defense was very good. Cortland had a 3 goal run in a 90 second time frame. But other than that they were unable to penetrate at all. SLU caused turnovers regularly. SLU offense needs to take care of the ball. Passing and catching were an issue. 20 turnovers with only 4 caused won't cut it in Owings Mills, gotta straighten that out. SLU is easily a top twenty team and Cortland is too.

I'm not too concerned with the turnovers on a day like today. It was miserable.
Give me 65 degrees and sunny with 20 turnovers and then that's a problem.

Union-Williams 9-9 early 4th.

These were fundamental turnovers, passing and catching with no pressure being applied. Weather had nothing to do with it. Hopefully it was just jitters.

Yep I saw them. Tons of forced or airmailed passes. Still not worried.
SLU played a lot of kids- standing on the bench waiting to get in when it’s that cold turns your hands and legs to ice blocks.

I suspect Corty’s offense would’ve given up a ton of unforced TOs as well if the Saints defense didn’t cause them first.

I watched SLU in both games so far and they are looking a little interesting. Their D and Goaltending looked good, a typical looking Mahoney product that is performing well. A lot of pick offs from long polls from adjacent passes. A couple of nice point blank stops buy the keeper against a Cortland program that normally buries those door step shots with no problem. The other thing was the offense is scoring some nice goals by feeding the crease. Got to have quick hands inside make those goals but a nice luxury if you can pull them off consistently. It freazes the close defense tight to the crease and opens up those time and room shots if they are not sliding early. But the unforced errors. Eeesh. Those were ugly.
